COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong, sweet and very full-bodied ale, with malt and roasted malt flavors predominating. This dark red colored ale is a house favorite among our specialty beers.

Brown color with a medium sized, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, roast, some smoke, and dark fruits. Taste of caramel, nuts, roast, and dark fruits, with some light alcohol in the finish.

750 ml bottle. Pours a deep reddish hue with a large light beige head. A light nose of spices and big berries. A pretty similar flavor with an emphasis on berries, light caramel, sweet. Pretty light flavors. Earthy at times. Light spices. Decent. Tastes thin despite the high ABV.

This bottles about ~ 2 yrs old. Gorgeous maroon body. Ok head. Deep, smooth, mellowed dark crystal malts noticeable in aroma and flavor--very consistent sensory experience.. Fruitiness is there, but muted. Mid-range dark fruits and blush wine and some marsala notes. Slide woodiness. Cherry syrup finish. Quite enjoyable.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Buy Rite, 2/3/12

Aroma: The nose is sweet and malty, with some caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and molasses
Appearance: This one pours a murky looking brown color with minimal head and no lacing
Flavor: The taste is fairly sweet, lots of caramel and toffee, no real bitterness, unbalanced sweet
Palate: The body is medium, it sticky and mildly cloying on the mouth, with a tingly finish on the tongue
Overall Impression: I found some nice components to this beer, but in the end this one was just a little too sweet/cloying for my tastes. Despite that criticism, I still found it to be decent.

THOUGHTS: Very nice. Very malty and fairly complex — especially in the aroma. It would go nice with some Christmas cookies. Hid alcohol very well. Got slightly cloying halfway through. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark, reddish brown that was nearly black in the glass with bright, red highlights and a large, off-white head that mostly diminished. It also had tiny particles of average to thick density floating in the body. The aroma had heavy dark bread, molasses, caramel, chocolate and chocolate syrup; light roasted malt; cherry; toffee; butterscotch; brown sugar; maple syrup; cola and hints of vanilla. The initial flavor was light to mod sweet, ever so slightly sour and lightly acidic; while the finish was heavily sweet, ever so slightly sour and slightly bitter. There was cherry, caramel, maple syrup, molasses, cola, hints of vanilla, brown sugar, chocolate, toffee and butterscotch. The medium to full body was a bit syrupy and then a little dry with fairly soft carbonation and a light alcoholic finish.

Bomber from New Jersey. Initial smokey malty was nice aroma and tasty, above average mouthfeel, caramel, brown colour and lots of lace. Some hop bitterness. However unbalanced sweet. So-so drinkability.

Shared 750 ml. bottle at a recent group tasting. Poured a mahogany/brown color, with good clarity, modest, light tan head foam, and light, spots & streaks of lacing. The aroma was light roast, subtle smoke & peat, and some molasses & dark fruit sweetness. The flavor was similar, with low hop bitterness and a body that was just a bit fuller than medium. Subtle alcohol warmth showed up toward the finish. Tasty, but except for the posted abv, more in the 80/- Scottish range to me.

This poured a semi murky medium brown color with a bieg head. Aroma was mainly caramel, light roast and some astringency. Flavor was a bit metallic and astringent, some roast, toffee and caramel. Ehh

25 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark garnet body with a small fizzy off-white head that faded to a thin covering. The nose is super malty with lots of burnt caramel and a touch of light oxidation. The alcohol is quite noticeable in the aroma. The flavor mirrors the aroma pretty well, the oxidation plays a bit bigger part, but overall it’s just a huge malt bomb. It’s sweet, but not overly so. The alcohol is fairly well hidden given the strength, there’s no warmth on the finish at all. Full bodied and minimally sticky with gentle light carbonation. Not bad, but not a favorite of the style.

From a bottle poured a brown color with a good amount of head. Sweet malty flavor with a quick finish.
