Deep, dark color with a slightly foamy tan head. Deep, dark flavor as well, with chocolate, coffee, cherry, oak, and bourbon. Creamy and smooth with a lingering finish. Hints of dried fruit. Strong and full.

On tap, Allentown. Dark pour, frothy head. Large bourbon nose. Bourbon was a nice flavor compliment, but not overwhelming. Roasty and a tad lactic, sweet chocolate. Airy mouthfeel...a lot of carbonation. Good job.

Pours black with ruby hues..thick, foamy mocha head. Aroma is somewhat subdued...vanilla rum and mild oak with soft char and roastiness. Flavor has significant dark fruit...winey with fig...and mild oaky rum and vanilla. Mouthfeel is full and the finish is roasty with dark fruit...slightly warming.

750mL bottle. Poured cola brown with a colossal cap of dark tan head. The aroma picked up sweet, toasty bourbon and vanilla over mocha sugars and a little roasty espresso.. a little sharp around the nose.. woody sourness and peppery warmth on the back. The flavor opened with tangy barrel and grainy herbal/medicinal notes.. mocha, molasses, and ashy black patent maltage on the middle.. tasty, but a little stale bourbon around.. finished sour and grainy, with more mocha sugars and bourbon. Medium-bodied with too much carbonation on the palate.. decent balance overall, but the barrel did too much at times.. also seemed like there may have been a mild infection.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2011 (750ml bottle thanks to jyoungsbcp) near black pour with deep tan fine bubbles, effervescent. Nose of light bourbon, vanilla, wood, alcohol, chocolate, and fudge. Taste of umami, bitter coffee, dry, cocoa powder, thinnish body, not a long duration either on the palate. Alcoholic kick at the end, just not rich enough. Rating: 7-4-6-3-13

Re-rate (Growler thanks to ericandersnavy) espresso ruby-brown pour with soapy light tan bubbles. Nose of big milk chocolate, bourbon, fugde. Taste has a bit of smoke, watery chocolate, bourbon, cream. Body is a bit watery in general. Rating: 8-4-7-3-14 (Averaged the two)

Pours black. The carbonation seems a little on the fizzy side; bubbles are pretty large at first then fades to a cream like head. Nose is roasted burnt malts, yeast, bread, raw wood, and whiskey. Flavor is heavy on barrel aged whiskey, vanilla, and caramel. Palate is pretty thick and rich but has a little too much carbonation fizz. Overall a pretty good imperial stout but a little one dimensional burnt whiskey character.

750 ml bottle at ABW. Pours dark brown with a surprisingly light brown head. The aroma is very chocolaty with nuts and wet wood. The flavor is the same and very smooth with some light hints of dark fruit and vanilla. No real bourbon notes except for some nice mild charred barrel and vanilla. Nice and chocolaty and easy to drink yet interesting and balanced. Really good beer.
