Bottle as shown. Pours a dark brown with beige head that lasts. The aroma is a strong roast, oak, booze, smoke, and chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with sweet roasted malt, dark chocolate, with nice sweet finish. Good

It’s hard to do a bourbon barrel aged stout poorly. Aroma was perfect. Strong vanilla, oak and bourbon. Pour was a deep dark brown with a thin tan ring for a head. Taste was just a tad thin, but still fantastic. Vanilla, milk chocolate and bourbon. Sweet and delectable. Tastes like a good desert. Very mild carbonation.

Has a very rich flavor with good use of BBL aging. Slightly smokey but no burnt qualities. Medium-full body. Excellent balance. Given no expectations, a pleasant surprise.

Pour start brown with decent head and caramel colored place in. Distinct notes of alcohol on the head, as well as chocolate. The bourbon barrels impart strong notes of alcohol, bourbon, and vanilla, transforming Insidious into a great barrel-aged stout.

12 ounce bottle thanks to Greg. Dark pour. Tan head. Bourbon and some vanilla. Light for the high abv. Thin body. But overall, pretty good if not an intense barrel aged.

3/13/14 $4.39 bottle from CBO. Not a bad beer. It's a shame that BCBS spoiled everything for me. This is a solid beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle (no date, assumed 2013) from Jtclockwork, drunk 3/11/14
Tan head immediately recedes a ring atop this clear, deep mahogany brown beer.
Less coconut and raw barrel in the nose and in its place, more grainy bourbon mixed with sweet caramel and some rather ashy, dark roast. Some doughiness or oxidation, however, is inescapable. Certainly works fine with the rest of the stout, but I’d rather see lots of bright vinousness instead of more premature oxidation. No alcohol initially, though it hasnt warmed fully.
The flavor has more of the soy-like oxidation, lots of bittersweet baker’s chocolate notes and buttercreamy maltiness. Very low carbonation, slick mouthfeel and very light prune/raisin acidity on the end. Rather simple, a bit sweeter than I’d prefer and I just can’t get past the soy flavor. Texture seems filtered/force carbonated where some natural carbonation and a more engaging mouthfeel would help allay some of the heavy, lifeless flavors. Certainly nothing wrong with the beer and it’s a fine sipper if that’s what youre going for, but dosent really measure up to the better examples of the style.
