THOUGHTS: Lot’s of chocolate and a decent amount of bourbon in the flavor. The wood especially was noticeable in both the flavor and aroma. Not super complex, but just really nice flavors. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a very dark brown that was basically opaque black in the glass with a small, light brown head that mostly diminished and left barely fair lacing. The aroma had moderate to heavy dark chocolate; moderate roasted malt and coffee; wood; vanilla; and bourbon. The initial flavor was moderate to heavily sweet and lightly bitter; while the finish was moderate to heavily sweet and light to moderately bitter with and average to long duration. There was dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, bourbon, and wood. The slightly more than medium body was oily and then dry with quite fizzy carbonation and a lightly alcoholic finish.

Aptly named -- subtle flavors around the glass. Poured from bottle, very thick head kind of dampens the aroma. Good beer, but nothing really spectacular. The 9% abv is significant, though. I guess that’s why it’s Insidious.

Solid if unspectacular BA RIS, nose has a lot of alcohol, small hints of chocolate, but a really interesting pretzel sort of character, somewhat salty. A pretty easy to drink beer and certainly not bad at all.

Bottle from Ryan pours black with thick, dark brown head. Aroma of roasted malts and whiskey. Flavors include coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, and smooth bourbon. Slightly sweet but balanced nicely with a light hop and peppery finish.

Bottle pours nearly opaque black with almost non-existant, oily tan head. Vanilla, chocolate, roast, soy sauce. Moderately bitter and sweet. Alcohol burn in the finish. Body was fairly lively.

Bottle courtesy of watson1977, cheers! POurs jet black w/ fizzy tan head, rich creamy bourbon aroma, wonderful, malty rich body without weighing too heavily on the palate, very light roast with just a touch of bourbon on finish, nice to have an impy stout with some restraint, really enjoyed this one, thanks Kerry

Bottle shared by brew3crew. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon, woody and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a rich smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted sweet chocolate cream flavor with a medium to heavy sweet smooth finish of moderate to long duration. Standout brew.

Draft at The Boilermaker in Philadelphia, PA. Pours pitch black with a two finger frothy beige head that very slowly fades into a lasting cap.  Streaks of soapy lacing left behind. Sweet yet roasted nose with a very well integrated barrel character.  Lots of spicy bourbon sweetness along with earthy oak, vanilla, toffee and coconut without overpowering the malt character.  Roasted with subtle hints of coffee, toast and dark chocolate. Really nice. Medium bodied and fuller than expected with a nice balance of roasted malt and bourbon barrel.  Dry and roasty up front with hints of burnt toast, roasted coffee bean and dark chocolate followed by sweet, spicy bourbon notes. Hints of  earthy oak compliment the dryness of the malt profile but there is still a lot of sweetness.  Really nice whiskey/bourbon flavor with silky vanilla, marshmallow and coconut notes.  Very well balanced with barrel character excellently integrated.  Best beer I’ve had from this brewery.

Aroma- big oak, bourbon, dark fruits, some roasted notes Appearance- black with brown hues and a thin white head Taste- boozy bourbon hits upfront with lingering burn, roasted notes, big dark fruits, smooth finish Palate- too thin, not on par with the style Overall- Way too thin to be considered great. Very potent and boozy yet highly drinkable. Great tasting beer with some definite flaws.

Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pours clear and brown with mahogany highlights and a tiny, swirling, off white head. The nose, when picked apart, is comprised of fudge, caramel and pecan praline accentuated by subtle notes of butter, lightly toasted coconut and maple syrup. Medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and low-key carbonation. The flavor is a well-balanced, but decadent blend of malty caramel, fudge and light toasted oak and coconut. A touch boozy. Finishes mildly sweet and lightly acidic. Thanks to landhoney for sharing this world class beer with the south Florida crew!
