4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draft at Devil’s Den with Vin. Pours a dark obsidian black with a fluffy, persistent tan head. Lacing is full and lingering. Aroma of soft, sweet bourbon, lightly toasted coconut, roasted malts, dark chocolate, and slight hints of molassess and vanilla. Rich yet surprisingly light mouthfeel with some nice boozy warmth on the tongue. Tastes very much like a rootbeer float with chocolate syrup on it. Amazing.

Bottle. Pours dark brown/black, with a large, brown head. Aroma is chocolate, bourbon, roasted malt, vanilla, and fruit. Flavor is bourbon, roasted malt, fruit, vanilla and a touch of alcohol. A little thin, but overall really nice. Better as it warms up.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Thanks to Mike, had this side by side with the regular version, an instance of barrel aging not improving a beer... Dark brown with a nice head, falls a touch quicker though... The taste and aroma are mostly generic barrel with vanilla, a hint of chocolate. Not good... Pass

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
On tap at Capones. Dark black pour, thin tan colored head. Aromas are very chocolatey, with creamy vanilla oak. Taste is sublime....so much vanilla, bourbon, smoked oak, cocoa. This beer taste like a "coke float", coke out of the glass bottle mixed with vanilla ice cream. Lacing is occasional and spotty. Best beer I have ever had from Fegleys, and one of the best imperial stouts I have had the pleasure of trying.

750 cc from Capone’s. Pours thck oily onyx with minimal off-khaki head and spare lacing. Nose is rich woody bourbon, cacao, chocolate malt. Tastes rich, complex, very spirity, with a huge chocolate malt bill, some cacao, and some peaty and scotch whiskey notes late. Hops too. This one is very good, and would go great with a Fuente Maduro Churchill and a wedge od aged extra sharp Vermont cheddar, but only the orange kind.
