750 c&c from michael-pollack who has my eternal gratitude. De-corked with a loud pop. Pours black with a 4+ finger creamy dark tan head. All kinds of aromas. Toffee, coffee, bourbon/vanilla, chocolate. Full bodied. Flavor is all of the foregoing, but the chocolate is near dark baking chocolate, and the bourbon is playing against that. Amazing that the chocolate competes so well with the bourbon. Brilliant ale.

Bottle shared by brew3crew. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon, woody and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a rich smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted sweet chocolate cream flavor with a medium to heavy sweet smooth finish of moderate to long duration. Standout brew.

Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pours clear and brown with mahogany highlights and a tiny, swirling, off white head. The nose, when picked apart, is comprised of fudge, caramel and pecan praline accentuated by subtle notes of butter, lightly toasted coconut and maple syrup. Medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and low-key carbonation. The flavor is a well-balanced, but decadent blend of malty caramel, fudge and light toasted oak and coconut. A touch boozy. Finishes mildly sweet and lightly acidic. Thanks to landhoney for sharing this world class beer with the south Florida crew!

750 cc from Capone’s. Pours thck oily onyx with minimal off-khaki head and spare lacing. Nose is rich woody bourbon, cacao, chocolate malt. Tastes rich, complex, very spirity, with a huge chocolate malt bill, some cacao, and some peaty and scotch whiskey notes late. Hops too. This one is very good, and would go great with a Fuente Maduro Churchill and a wedge od aged extra sharp Vermont cheddar, but only the orange kind.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ughsmash (6669) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 10, 2011
750mL bottle. Poured cola brown with a colossal cap of dark tan head. The aroma picked up sweet, toasty bourbon and vanilla over mocha sugars and a little roasty espresso.. a little sharp around the nose.. woody sourness and peppery warmth on the back. The flavor opened with tangy barrel and grainy herbal/medicinal notes.. mocha, molasses, and ashy black patent maltage on the middle.. tasty, but a little stale bourbon around.. finished sour and grainy, with more mocha sugars and bourbon. Medium-bodied with too much carbonation on the palate.. decent balance overall, but the barrel did too much at times.. also seemed like there may have been a mild infection.
