Received as an extra, poured into my Portsmouth tulip. Brownish orange in color with about a fingers worth of off-white head. Nose is composed primarily of spice, in particular nutmeg and cinnamon. There is also some light pumpkin and vanilla. Flavors starts of spice as well, but ends with a weird vegetal taste. Not all that pleasant. Moderate mouthfeel with good carbonation, slightly oily, and a moderate finish. Pretty run of the mill pumpkin ale. A lot of emphasis on the spice and not enough focus on the actual pumpkin. Decent beer, but I am happy getting it as an extra instead of buying it myself.

From 2014 batch. From cellar. Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass. Very little head, almost flat looking. Beer is a slightly hazy dark amber color. Aroma is of caramel malts and doughy yeast and cloves. Taste is strong, yet lightly sweet, lightly bitter and very lightly sour. Overall a good pumpkin ale with plenty of spice. I don’t believe ageing this beer did any good for it.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a tulip at a bottle share last month. The appearance was a nice looking bronzed orange color with a thin slim quarter finger white foamy head that quickly died off. Barely any lacing. The smell had a strong big authentic pumpkin with a delicate ginger spice and a light vanilla rolling through. The taste copied the smell and carried a nice sweet pumpkin but a delicate ginger spice that I really liked. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good sessionability maybe leaning towards the sipping quality. The carbonation was extremely smooth and good. Overall, what a nice imperialized pumpkin ale. If I lived in its distro, I’d probably be buying this all of the time. Good stuff.

On tap at Crust. A mahogany brown pour. Aroma of butternut squash, spice, pine, malt, pumpkin and cloves. A flavor of pumpkin bread, spice, malt and alcohol. There is some warmth from the booze which there is plenty of. A bit sweet on the backend. A nice mix of strength, sweet and carbonation for a pumpkin.

GABF 2014. I don’t have a lot to say about it one. Standard pumpkin pie spices; cinnamon; cloves. Sweet, and it pulls off the traditional pumpkin beer well. Brown color.
