A classic German style wheat beer. Served unfiltered to preserve the unique clove, vanilla and banana flavors and aromas produced by the German Weihenstephan yeast. Crafted with the finest German hops.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours hazy orange with a medium sized white head that retains well. The aroma has a strong sweet banana, slight spice. The taste has a medium sweetness, plenty of banana, a lighter spice than average. Nicely done.

On tap at the brewpub. It pours cloudy yellow with an aroma of cloves, bubblegum and dirty dish towel. Not so good. The flavor is better with clove, bubblegum, and a bit of lemon. Nice German yeast character without the off notes in the aroma. Descent, but not one I would seek out again.

Tap, Bethlehem. Pours a slightly cloudy yellow body with a minimal white head. Big estery nose, lots of banana and clove, light yeastiness and some wheat. The flavor is too thin with minimal wheat and yeast flavors. Too much bubblegum and not enough wheat and yeastiness. Thin and watery body with minimal complexity. Just barely passable for the style.

Just listed as Hefeweizen now on the BBW menu at 5.2%. Pours cloudy from tap. Big, big banana and clove aroma. I could smell this all day. Big estery taste notes on the tongue but not cloying. Finishes strong and dry. A fantastic hefe.

Golden white pour hazy bananas and clove in the taste with some vanilla was decent if you can deal with a good amount of clove flavor in the taste. A very good brew.

On tap at the BBW Brew Pub and listed as just ’Hefeweizen’. Poured a medium to deeper and cloudy golden color with an averaged sized white head. Served in a .5L Hefe glass with a slice of lemon. Aromas of lemons, bananas, cloves, ’sweaty’ wheat and a trace of bubble gum. Tastes of citrus, lighter bananas, and lighter cloves. Thirst quenching on this hot day.

Tap. Yellow cloudy color. Aroma is of lemon and banana. Odd mix that just wasn’t quite balanced. The spice flavors were present but kind of weak.

On tap at the brewpub, July 2006. Pale and cloudy. Light, clean and lemony. Subtle spice and apple notes also come through on the palate. No great depth of flavour but refreshing enough. OK, but not very German in style - I struggled to get any banana or cloves to speak of. More Belgian Wit if anything.
