COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppiest Brew Works beer ever? The smell of grapefruit, a sweet malt flavor, and oh by the way, lots of hop bitterness. Brewed in the tradition of West Coast ales, we have put loads of malt and hops in our kettle to come up with this sensational ale. Brewed with pale, and crystal malts, hopped with Tomahawks for Yakima Valley, WA. This beer styled has made many a microbrewery famous and this one is sure to please all those who love hops.

(Bottle) Pours medium dark amber with an off-white head. The aroma holds typical hop notes of pine, citrus and tropical fruits. Also some currant/orange flavoured tea, white flowers and resin. Malt brings toasted caramel. The flavour is light sweet, near heavily bitter and light to medium acidic. Citric, resinous and floral. Malt stays in the background. The mouthfeel is clean and astringent with a light to medium carbonation. Long resinous finish. Light to medium bodied.

Aroma of grapefruit, sour funk, and slight pine. Very punguent. Pours orange with a small frothy head. Tastes more bitter with grass, spout citrus and funk. Very hoppy but not necessarily tasty.

Solid IPA and had bottle at brewpub as they ran out of the draft version. Plenty of citrus notes and some dryness which came from the dry hopping process. I disn’t relize this was a double ipa though as the bitter flavors didn’t seem too complex and the malt conte, however flavorful, didn’t seem that compact. I liked it but wish they hadn’t run out of hopsolutely.

Pours a clear golden/amber color with a medium lt tan head...nice lacing. Aroma is not exactly a hop explosion but has a bit of citrus and herbal notes...some sweet malt backing. Flavor is a bit more hoppy than the aroma suggests...dry, spicy grapefruit and some herbal hops, lightly toasty malt. Mouthfeel is medium and a bit lifeless...finish is bitter, earthy, and dry.

Bottle. Dark golden color, mostly clear. Clean, hoppy aroma. Strong and very hoppy. Quite good. Doesn’t taste as strong (10.5% ABV) as it actually is though!

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Amber colour with brief, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with grapefruit, orange peel, hints of pine needles and crystal malt. Hoppy, slightly fruity taste with notes of grapefruit, pine needles, crystal malt and a dry finish with a fresh, hoppy bitterness. Slightly more than medium body, quite dry. Very nice and highly drinkable. (As some of the raters before me have pointed out, the abv is 7.0%, which is also stated on the brewery’s website. Could this be a new version?)

On tap at ABW. Like the reviewer below, this was an Allentown beer at 7%. Perhaps a different beer under the same name? It pours a very clear golden color with a nice creamy white head. Good lacing. The aroma has lots of West Coast style citrusy hops and hints of grass. The flavor is nicely balanced with a good malt character and potent citrusy hops. Pretty dry with hardly a hint of caramel malt if any. Lacks the hop bite of some of the top IPA’s, but still well above average. A nice surprise.

Draft pint at Anthony’s in Harrisburg. Clear golden with a small head Nose is resin, grain and light citrus. Flavor is the same muddled mix with not much standing out. The beer I had under this name was now by Allentown brew works and was listed as 6 to 7% abv; certainly it was not an Imperial IPA.
