3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Transfer from BA review on 4-25-12 -
Served in a 10 oz. chalice glass
Appearance – Served a hazy orange color with a moderate white head. The head faded rather quickly to leave a healthy bit of lacing.
Smell – There is a nice buttery biscuit aroma with plenty of good citrus smells. Some hints of pine and tropical fruit aromas are present as well and when mixed with a nice caramel aroma create a very pleasing smell.
Taste – For the most part the same flavors were present throughout the entire taste, but with varying intensities. A big bready malt taste was up front and remained strong throughout the taste. In the beginning the malty taste was mixed with a tropical fruit and light caramel sweetness and a good shot of more bitter pine hop flavor. The sweetness faded over time and the bitter hop grew stronger and stronger as the taste advanced. At the end a strong bitter hop was there and lingered on the tongue with the biscuit malt. While these were the main flavors, one in which I expected, was absent; surprisingly there was almost no alcohol flavor in this rather potent (11.8 %) brew.
Mouthfeel – Thick and chewy with a lower level of carbonation. The creaminess coated the tongue and this coupled without no burn of alcohol made it very easy to drink; somewhat dangerous for such a strong brew.
Overall – It had good characteristics. The flavors were nice, it had a wonderful aroma and it was very easy to drink, but due to all tastes being present at all times and the more subtle changes it was somewhat unexciting. Quite good but not great.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Medium to heavy sour citrus earthy resin hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration with a small alcohol bite. This is a solid beer.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A nice beer but way too hot. Aroma was outstanding. Strong resinous hops with a heavy grapefruit smell. Sticky pine as well. Pour was a cloudy medium gold with some sediment (plus!). Taste was very hot and alcoholic. Strong resinous flavor. Tastes like the scrapings from inside a bowl. Sticky pine and grapefruit were thick and dominating. Not much else going on. Light carbonation...a little disappointing. A little more bubbles would have made this beer more refreshing rather than a chore to finish.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 3/20
650ml bottle. This is just too much, 11.5 and only 74 ibus, all really tomatoey acidic hops.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle poured an orange amber color with a coating of white head that fell right off. Aroma has pines, resins, caramel malt, and some heat. Mouth feel is medium and the carbonation on the low side. Flavor gets the hops to a brutish level, resins, sweet malt, big punchy alcohol, and a lingering finish.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
12 fl. oz. bottle shared by my brother. Clear deep golden with a thin white head. Really boozy with very little hops our malt character. Might be too old. A bit more flavour than nose but still too much booze. Bad.

Had to try a triple IPA to say I’ve done it. A good-tasting beer, but a style with way too much alcohol to throw a few back. Intensely rich hops & malt, almost slightly sweet, I do not sense the citrus though. Good taste nonetheless.
