4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 illinismitty (2269) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 21, 2011
Bottle shared with Rustyham. Pours orange amber with an off white head. Aroma of floral and citrusy hops. Medium bodied with average carbonation, and a very slight stickiness in texture. Very pale toffee esque malt backbone with juicy hops taking center stage here. Dry finish, with alcohol well hidden for this ABV. Not bad, perhaps not the freshest bottle but still good. Triple IPA? Cmon, enough with these naming gimmicks to lure the extreme beer crowd. This is a straight forward west coast style double IPA
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Rustyham (1396) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 20, 2011
Aroma is veryresiny, flavor is kind of juicy, like t is drying out the mouth. Kind of light, like just barely a a double. Definitely lots of hop juice, but very little bitterness.

12oz bottle. Pours a mostly clear, ever-so-slightly hazed golden colored body with a finger-width, dense and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is solid. Big piney grapefruits with a few florals and melons along with some resins. Medium sweet caramel behind the hops and a few more citrus notes aside from grapefruit. Flavor is quite sweet and bitter at the same time. Lots of sweet, somewhat syrupy citruses and grapefruits up front with some floral fruits and melons. Plenty of pines with some earth along with a medium sweet caramel behind the big hop flavors. The hops really dry this out and give it a bit of an abrasively bitter finish with some resin, but there is also a bit of a residual sweetness with lots of citruses sticking out. Lengthy aftertaste with a noticeable alcohol heat. Medium, somewhat sticky body at times with a moderate carbonation. Overall, a very hoppy DIPA with tons of flavor, but it just doesn’t seem to be completely balanced. The aroma is really nice, but the flavor is a bit sweet initially and quite bitter at the end despite the residual sweetness. I enjoyed drinking this and really liked the big, citrusy pine flavors, but it wasn’t amongst my favorites.

caramel toasty slick sweetish and full of malt flavor. recessed citrus and even more laid back pine hop profile sits beneath and is powerful enough yet sophisticated so as not to overwhelm. demonstrative, highly drinkable and satisfying. musikfest 2011 at the wooden match Bethlehem Pa. Alcohol is not really apparant.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ughsmash (5826) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 22, 2011
12oz bottle. Poured cloudy medium golden with a short, dense off-white head. The aroma picked up sweet bread and biscuity malts topped off by huge doses of assertive hops and alcohol heft.. grapefruit really dominated, with floral and peppery notes beneath.. spicy blood orange right on the back of the nose.. interesting stuff. The flavor found honey and orange meat at the core, with raw, green alcohol, grapefruit, and plenty more soggy hop bitterness around.. tacky on the finish with residual sugars and bitterness.. really warmed up the belly. Heavier-bodied and hot on the palate.. quite syrupy, with poor-OK transitions to the bitter & boozy sides.. cloying and hard to drink after the first few sips.
