COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“The Dark Lord of all Stouts”
Rich and seductively smooth with complex chocolate & roasted flavors and hints of dark fruit. We conjure this by squeezing the life from two-row pale malts, chocolate and caramel malts, and roasted barley. Then we boil their spirits with East Kent Golding hops, and unleash an English ale yeast to feast upon and transform the remains. What emerges is a black deity-sized libation that will be your portal to the dark side. Bottled conditioned for natural carbonation, you may cellar Insidious for several years for additional smoothness…though be warned, it’s temptation will perpetually haunt you. “Beware the allure of the Dark Lord of all Stouts”

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2010 Very dark with a foamy brown head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Deep, dark flavor that is roasted coffee, chocolate, malt, and of course beer. Not as strong as some imperial stouts, but not bad at all. Best at cellar temperature… not too cold, not too warm.

Draft at jose pistola’s. Pours black with big tan head. Huge roasted burnt espresso nose with touch of chocolate. Fantastic deep molasses and chocolate sweetness and great dry mocha finish. Perfect carb, medium mouthfeel and great lingering coffee finish. World class imperial stout!

Looks like I will be going against the grain on this one. Shared by Jared of Bully’s Restaurant & Pub. It looks the part of an Imperial Stout, black, big brown head but that is where the similarities end. To start there was almost no nose at all, just a faint bit of vague roastedness. The flavor wasn’t much better with slight amounts of roast and a hint of dark fruit. Way overcarbonated with a thin, flimsy body. Not sweet or bitter, balanced at nothingness. Bland. Feels and tastes more like a dry stout. No hint of alcohol which I guess is something it has going for it. Sorry guys try again.

750 cc bottle from Craft Ale House. Pours onyx with very little translucence only at the very bottom of the glass, and a uniform 2-finger tan head with great lacing. Nose is great, a medley of dark patent malt, dark choc, hops, slight coffee, ovaltine, and prunes. Tastes dark malty, with figgy fruit, hops, medium palate heft, a tad watery, fairly complex, but make no mistake about it, although this one is very good, it couldn’t carry Dark Lord’s jock strap, if Dark Lord had junk and this beer had arms.
