COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“The Dark Lord of all Stouts”
Rich and seductively smooth with complex chocolate & roasted flavors and hints of dark fruit. We conjure this by squeezing the life from two-row pale malts, chocolate and caramel malts, and roasted barley. Then we boil their spirits with East Kent Golding hops, and unleash an English ale yeast to feast upon and transform the remains. What emerges is a black deity-sized libation that will be your portal to the dark side. Bottled conditioned for natural carbonation, you may cellar Insidious for several years for additional smoothness…though be warned, it’s temptation will perpetually haunt you. “Beware the allure of the Dark Lord of all Stouts”

Bottle courtesy of blutt59--Thanks Bob! Poured a damn near black body topped with a lasting tan head leaving nice lacing. Aromas of creaminess, sweet chocolate, roasty, some alcohol and milk chocolate. Flavors of baker’s cocoa, espresso, milk chocolate and a great coffee bitter finish. Medium mouthfeel with a slick, oily finish.

12 oz bottle, aged about 1 year: Pours dark black, light tan head, lots of bubbles on the glass. Aroma of toasted malts, light spruce hops, light bourbon. Taste is complex, smooth and robust. Deep, rich malt profile some oak, vanilla and bourbon but all well balanced. Palate is smooth, slightly bitter but very nice, nice bourbon balance.

Bottle pours dark brown with huge, foamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts. Flavors of roasted coffee beans, dark fruits, and hints of chocolate. Much more highly carbonated than most stouts.

Steeeve (326) - Ambler, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 27, 2011
Midnight looking pour with a thin mocha head. Aroma is mainly dark roasted malts, some coffee and chocolate, and a touch of booze. Taste is about the same. Very dark roasted malts, some burnt flavorings. Definitely boozy on the finish. Palate is full and creamy. Decent, but the burnt tasting malts are not really my style.

On tap at Allentown location. Pours black with a nice tan head to it. Has a chocolate and burnt malt smell to it. Taste is about the same with the burnt malt being the primary flavor. Little thin on the back but not real watery. Overall a nice Imperial can’t wait for the barrel aged version.

FURLYSURIOUS (262) - Orono, Minnesota, USA - MAR 23, 2012
Pours a very stubborn black with a finger or two of soft brown head. On the nose there are bits of bitter chocolate, coffee, sweet malts - really just an approachable BA stout. The taste offers some creamy milk chocolate with a nice toasted hoppy afterburn. A very smooth drinking beer. In between swigs I’m left with a sweet, roasty, woody presence. Solid beer.

Draft on tap at the brass rail. Black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, and a pinch of alcohol. The body is medium and low carbonation. The flavors come together as a licorice and egg nog combination with alcohol finish.
