12-oz. bottle provided via trade with hopdog. Pours clear red with an average frothy off-white head, somewhat diminishing, fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel), average hops (perfume), average yeast (dough) with notes of light alcohol, clove, banana, nutmeg, cinnamon and coriander. Full bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation and a slightly bitter finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness; spicy mouthfeel.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2006 Sparkling clear amber ale. Fizzy, off-white head. Aroma of alcohol, cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander and allspice. Flavor matches the aroma... all the spices and warm alcohol. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and fizzy arbonation. Short finish that starts sweet and ends up bone-dry. Odd, but nice.

12oz bottle. Poured a dark and cloudy brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves (and I’m sure I’m missing a couple other spices in there), and on the fruity side. Closely reminded me of a stick of gum that’s been chewed on for a while. Tastes of the same. Spices are there in the tastes but not overpowering. Tastes like a spiced cake of some sort. Alcohol content well hidden. Lacing left on the glass.

Initially from fridge with a cloudy yeasty peach colour, soap bubble head. Good kitchen spice cabinet aroma. Initially creamy good medium mouthfeel, and spices refreshed.Like a good Begium, yet hint of metallic finish. As glass warmed, mouthfeel felt thinner and spices Ok but not delicious, more like an American Winter warmer.

Bottle. Pours dark brown. Off white head. Nose and taste of cinnamon, all spice, clove, nutmeg and malt. Warming alcohol in the finish. Spice is a bit overpowering at times.

12 oz bottle courtesy of hopdog… thanks. Dark amber beer with a fast fading head. The aroma is very spicy, nutmeg and lots of cinnamon. Spiced bread and plum pudding. Raisins and cloves. Flavour is quite spicy and peppery. Shows prominent alcohol and a fairly thin body. The spicing is quite nice though with enough bready malts to really back it up. Some sweet peach and plummy malts but then finishes strangely dry. An odd duck, this one.

Good yellowish head; slightly hazy amber chestnut beer. Very perfumed nose, some pine & resins, cypress, etc., and definitely spices: cinnamon, allspice - and bogmyrtle. It’s a bit like an aftershave, in smell. Very spicy taste, exorbitant aromatic oils from cloves, allspice, cinnamon,... Way overspiced. There’s a bit of sweetness lurking, but the typical spicy bitterness holds everything under its sway. Burning MF, oily, the spices are not strange to that. Medium bodied, but I have the impression it is heavier than it seems. " In die Beschränkung zeigt sich der Meister". This might have been a lot better with some more caution on dosage. Thanks, Mike!

Bottle from Super Saver, Somerville, NJ. Deep brown hazy pour with huge spicy aroma. The taste was dense and very spicy, perhaps too spicy. As it warmed, it got a little muddled and hard to finish. In the mold of Weyerbacher Decadence.
