pretty good X-mas beer but the spices can be a bit too conflicting. Really good buzz from the high alcohol content.

Pours clear red-amber with a 1-finger bone-colored head. Aroma has notes of banana, honey, spices, and maybe some candied fruit. Body is medium, with a mild thickness. Finish is dry, with some astringency. Flavor of the spices, with some honey and an earthy note at the back. Some banana and a buttery note as it warms.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thought this was a Belgian ale, so I poured it into a tulip.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange to bronzed copper color. Slim quarter finger of white foamy head graced gently on the glass.
The smell had a sweet brown sugar to delicate spice - ginger, cinnamon and clove.
The taste started off mainly sweet and bled into the spices nicely. Light spicy sweet aftertaste led to a sticky sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sipping quality about it. Alcohol not felt but then again I’m not worried since it’s from Christmas of 2014.
Overall, for what it is now, I like it as a Belgian ale or a Christmas spiced ale. It works.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a nice clear copper with a medium tan head. Very sweet caramel aromas with some citrus. It really smells like a holiday desert. Very sweet and almost a bit sour. It has a light to medium body and thin texture. This is an above average holiday brew that you should definitely keep on your wish list.

Bottle reddish amber no head. Musty, holiday spice and alcohol nose. Flavor is very malty with spicing. A bit cloying finish.

Fegleys Brew Works Rude Elfs Reserve is a nice Holiday brew, but maybe not a regular. Head is very foamy. Malt and spiciness dominate the nose. Taste is like a gingerbread in a balanced subtle way. Pretty simple brew but gingerbread flavor is nice around Christmas time.

Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – The beer is served a ruby red color with a small white head. The head fades very fast to leave a lingering film and a small level of lacing.
Smell- The aroma is heaviest of spice notes mixed with some fruit and sugar. Cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom are all prevalent and mix nicely with a candied sugar and light dark fruit aroma.
Taste – The spices make their presence known upfront in the taste as they did in the nose. Cinnamon and cardamom mix with a dark fruit and malty base of the brew. Soon other spices of nutmeg enter as well as some flavors of a brown sugar and apple. A light yeast taste enters the tongue, more toward the end, along with a light alcohol and citrus flavor. From the mix of the spice and alcohol, a pleasant warming taste is left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is on the medium side in terms of its thickness with a carbonation level that is slightly on the higher side. The high carbonation is good for the drinkability while the medium body is a good compromise from keeping it too easy to drink, but yet still being god for the spice and the fruit flavors.
Overall – A tasty spiced Belgian style ale. A very drinkable (and dangerous at 10.5 % abv.) and wonderful winter style brew to sit back and sip in the company of friends. A good on to try if you get the chance.
