1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 Quack-Duck (5921) - Down South, - JUN 21, 2007
bottle. Looks nice, pale yellow with large head. Hoppy nose. Similar to the 2.4max I can’t taste anything, no hops, no malt - it reminds me strongly of carbonated water.
1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 SubCapt (23) - SWITZERLAND - NOV 12, 2006
[tasted at room temperature]
Feldschlösschen’s "low-carb / low-cal" beer. Attenuation stretched to the limit to achieve it, starting at 8.4% dry extract to reach 4.1% ABV.
Similar process to a german "Diät Pils", except at as lightly lower gravity.
Rocky, irregular white head. Pale yellow with a touch of bronze. Large bubbles sticking to the side of the glass.
Nose of hops, hesitating between, hay, flowery and catty. That’s about it.
Yery thin on the palate, to the point of tasting watery, very slight malt sweetness and more catty hops, verging on the soapy.
Finish is crisp and dry with a clear-cut bitterness but not really pleasant.
A surprising alcohol warmth in the throat for such a low ABV makes it taste stronger than it is.
All in all, a watered-down take at a german-style Diät Pils, although it’s not so bad to see a Feldschlösschen beer with clearly identifiable hops character.
1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 Bov (7364) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - NOV 8, 2006
one more new beer from Feldschlösschen/Carlsberg: a calorie-poor lager, labeled "premium ... longer matured for an achieved taste" ... great, I cannot wait to taste it ! - it pours a clear golden colour with a little persistent but irregular foam; correct lacing; the aroma gives me some doubts about my sensorial capacities: I’m just not able to detect anything here; maybe a slight flowery hint ? But who can say that this does not come from a flower field outside or from my imagination ? ... a bit sweet and very thin-bodied; finishes slightly dry with a shy touch of bitterness and after it ... it’s the Atacama desert. - God, what am I gonna do with the rest of my 6 pack ?
