2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - DEC 13, 2011
First tasted this in the Bon Accord, Glasgow in October 1992. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear amber in colour with a thin white head. Fresh green apples in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a digestive biscuit base with stewed apples coming through. Harsh metallic hop prickle gives a dry bitter aftertaste. Finish is bitter sweet with a slight tannin note. An ok session bitter.

Comfy and refreshing traditional British bitter. I had it while watching Rugby at a pub in Wales. Awesome.

Pint in the Sloop, Llandogo in the Wye Valley. The beer was looked after extremely poorly. This beer is probably much better than this. Very dissapointed with the quality of beers at this pub.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Ungstrup (23975) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 9, 2006
[Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen] A nut-brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is swet with light fruity notes intertwining with light notes of nuts. The flavor is totally dominated by green apples - this could be a flaw and could not - anyways it is too much for my liking. Though I should note that also light notes of nuts and fruit appears, and the end is bitter and dry.
