Clear, brownish color, short off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, some faint hop. Hint of sulphur indeed, bit sweet taste, quite bitter, bit crisp. I’ve had far better bitters.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Pours a clear, medium amber color with a small, frothy white, mostlyand quickly diminishing head. The aroma is a bit odd: Malty with heavy notes of deeply toasted/slightly husky grain, cookie and caramel; Miscellaneous, moderately weighty notes of plumeria flower and green apple. Light notes of buttery diacetyl and corny DMS. The flavor is moderately bittersweet, lightly acidic with a moderately acidic, lightly bittersweet finish. Plenty of fake-buttered popcorn in the aftertaste. Not so good! The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Partially blind rating (I knew the sample was either Twisted Thistle or Double Dragon, but not which one, nor had I had either one before, nor did I know exactly what style they were, just hoppy British ales).
Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is clear medium amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (grain, cereal), trace hoppy (flowers), with notes of diacetyl, cardboard, and DMS.
Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, husky.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Bloody ’orrible, this is.

275ml bottle. The aroma is damp carpet and ash, flavour of sweet malt and chalk, with some burnt rubber and a tangy, tart finish.Uninspiring in pretty much every department.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours amber with a white head. The pour sucks, the aroma sucks, the flavor sucks, the beer sucks.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours clear amber with a cascading tan head, odd color combination for a bitter. Weak aroma of goldings hops, mixed nuts and sour apples and melons. Flavor is more of the same with a musty finish that fortunately fades rather quickly. Very unimpressive, hoping for more complexity or at least something I wouldn’t want to give away.

Red brown. Aroma is kinda nice. A bit fruits, malty and nutty. Flavor is not nice. Too watery and a bit lack of taste.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottled. A rather uninspiring appearance - brown, slightly cloudy, very small head. At first the taste seems pleasantly malty, but then you get a rather nasty, musty taste something like very stale cabbage, followed by a hint of bitterness. This tasted old-fashioned, like something from the dull, depressing Wales of the 1960’s.
