Bottled. Aroma reminds me a bit of cointreau but in a darker chocolate malt kind of way. The colour is almost black and thankfully the head is nothing like that which cream flow dispense would provide as per the blurb. Taste is on the thin side; again there is a sort of orange taste but also some chocolate and coal. A bit odd really!

Bottled, 500ml, pasteurised from Beers of Europe, Norfolk. Black with slight head. Is it a Mild is it a Stout? Borderline, overriding impression of dark roasted malts in quite a thin body, a little nutty to woody. Quite tart and a little wet paper from the carbonisation. It’s ok but nothing to return to.

Very dark black color, short frothy brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, some black chocolate, coffee, but also yeast. Slight sour and very bitter taste, bit earthy, some yeast. Bit unbalanced. Average beer.

Bottle, SH Jones, Bicester 04-11-06. Pours almost black with the tiniest of small beige heads. Aroma of roasted malts and some woodiness, taste was also roasted, litle bit of sourness, but pleasant even woody again with lingering bitterness, but a very nice and good example of a what a Mild should be like.

500 ml bottle (4.1% ABV) courtesy of geth_in_beer. Dark brown beer with a thick light brown head. Sweet chocolatey aroma, caramel, toast, and a lightly rummy note throughout. Flavour is quite nice... thin bodies but with good malt development. Bittersweet dark chocolate and a light roasty astringency which helps bulk up the body a bit. Lightly rummy/raisiny sweet malts over the toasty chocolatey character. Earthy hop finish and good bitterness.

From bottle. I was struck by a hint of sherry at first but then settled to a fruity, sweet syrup aroma but overall a very pleasant experience. The beer looks sinister with its very black calm appearance. For a dark not as strong tasting as expected but hit by fruit and chocolate always a good combination and smooth to go with it. Overall a very good beer, a bit of a surprise beer. Pretty good.

Aroma of licorice, roasted malts, chocolate/coffee and fruits. Black coloured with almost no head. Taste is sweet, bit fruity(black currant), roasted malty, coffee/chocolate. Quite thin. Not too good. Nice doctor’s recipe though.

Bottle. 4.1%. Very dark with a small beige head. Aromas are earthy sweet malts with a roast character. Also has winter fruit and yeast. Flavours are Sweet malts followed by dark chocolate bitterness and sourness. Some berries, also. Finishes with roast malts. Has a long bitter aftertaste. Decent for a pasteurised beer.

Bottled, label said 4.1% ABV. Aroma of prune, black currant, dough and lots of yeast. Black color, light brown small creamy head, very nice lace. Light sweet, light sour, dough, yeast, bitter finish, coffeebeans. Thin and a long lasting dry finish. Very typical combination of flavors which I never encountered before and hope I never will again.

Malty and a little thin.Pleasant roasted flavour makes for a distinctive and reaonable mild.
