Bottled. Near black, rich firm head. Salty nose with some raw licorice. Dry and clean with watery mouthfeel. Diluted aniseed flavour. Some aluminium in a salty finish. Not great.

50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Black colour, light beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some blackcurrants, very faint. Flavour is light sweet, roasted malts, hint of chocolate, berries, watery bitter finish. Light bodied, watery, not great.

Bottle. Black with reddish brown edges, coat of beige head. Aroma has light roasted grain, hazelnuts, herbs, licorice. Taste is very salty and slightly metallic with some roasted malt, cocoa and nut flavours. Sweeter as it warms and the shock of the salt wears off. Quite complex and interesting underneath, but far too salty.

[Nitrokeg at Ferryboat Inn, Fishguard] Black with a small white head. Smooth texture, slight burnt malt and earth taste but really very bland and water for a stout and with a rather metallic aftertaste. Disappointing.

This stout is a bit strange. The intial taste is very herbal and surprisingly different. The aftertaste is more normal. Saw Llanalli win in rugby when I had it.

Bottle@ProeflokaalDelft. Bread yeast aroma with licorice and coffee. Black colour, light brown head, good lace. Light sweet, light bitter, bread yeast flavour as well, light soapy, metallic, hint of sourness. Watery mouth feel.

Cask conditioned at Charlies. Dark brown coloured. Malt and dark fruits such as prunes in the aroma. Sweet fruity flavour. Again many prunes and raisins. Slightly roasty finish- Light to medium bodied. Short finish. Rather dull for a stout.

bottle from sainsburys. pitch black in colour, lacy tan head. very farmyardy roast notes with a bit of dark chocolate. still yardy in taste, quite thin mouthfeel and odd bitter aftertaste. not mine.
