4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 DrBeer (825) - Solna Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 29, 2002
Sampled bottle was from 1998. Purple-red beer with good beige head. Sourish aroma with sourcream tone and a hint of citrus.
The flavor is very full with citrus and sourcream notes and a malty finish. It is very smooth and rounded.
I agree with omhper,
I just love it

Sampling of the 1998 version in 2002. Very dark brown. Wonderful balsamic, slightly acidic aroma. Medium bodied, vinuous. Perhaps not the most complex of beers, but I just love it.

Quite an old bottle purchased from bottles in London. This is AT LEAST 4 years old, as the use by dates on the side of the bottle were up and till 98, and none of them had been punched in to indicate a used by date. On to the beer. Wow!!!! amzingly cherry-like and chocolotely nose, sour aroma. Very sour, smooth, chocolately, fruity (cherry), and a touch of balsamic vinegar. Very interesing. i love it.

Body light to medium, dry soft carbonation. Thanks Hugh for this add on to my taste palet.

A Mes rate:
75cl bottle from the Kulminator. 1989 bottle no less according to Leen and it looked it. Thick with dust and cobwebs with a very flakey label. None of this new school rubbish this is the genuine 5.5% article from Clarysse and poo the bed is it good. All that age but its still lively enough to prickle the palate. Superb Flemish sour nose. It wasn’t too great initially but once it had been open for a while and allowed to acclimatise it gave up wonderful balsamic notes with fruity red wine and gently sweet malt. Some slight brown sugar and custard in there too. Great looks, Simply fantastic. Thick thick head settled to a thinish film that lasted all the way down. The stunning chestnut brown body turns almost blonde at the edges. Really and amazing looking beer. In the mouth there are stong balsamic notes and lots of chewy caramel malt with some chocolate too. Slight metallic notes but we will let that slide. Totally out of the blue hops jump out of nowhere for the finish which almost instantly turns sweet and raisiny. Simply stunning. Damn rate beer being so over the top sometimes and not allowing this to be listed where it should be, with the Clarysse brewery and not with this substandard version.
