4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 JoeinEscazú (1181) - San Jose, COSTA RICA - APR 1, 2009
Cask at Chelmsford Winter BF, and easily my favorite of the festival. Even though i didn’t want to be that guy who liked the strongest beer available. Oh well. Huge, sweet dark-chocolate nose. Bittersweet flavor with lots of chocolate and toffee, caramel and coffee. Well-rounded flavor and soft, somewhat thick mouthfeel. Roasty, toffee aftertaste. Just delicious and dangerous.

Bottle from Pig’s Ear festival in London, 2008 Black color; small head. Aroma of cardboard, glue, paint, vanilla oak, liquorish; it may sound weird, but it’s interesting. Breadish beer, with strong liquorish flavor, chocolate malt, oxidised. A bit strange but interesting.
