Ungstrup (23975) - Oamaru, - FEB 9, 2012
Bottled. A dark red-brown beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, malt, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, over ripe fruits, caramel sauce, malt, and prunes, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. Not an abbey triple. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 27,5 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours an opaque black with a beige head. Sweet dark fruit in the nose. Solid body, sweet overripe dark fruits, again the pruney kind, some brown sugar and a subtle roast. Warming alcohol finish. Very nice but more of a Dubbel or a Quad. 090212

Bottle. Pours dark. very dark. Not much of a head but with a touch more carbonation than I was expecting. Setlles nicely in to a thin beige top. Initial aroma is mainly raisin with date with an undeniable alcohol edge. There’s a hint of dark chocolate shavings too with maybe some tropical fruits. Quite thin on the palate washing delicately over the tongue, but at 9.2% this is not a quaffing beer. The taste is again heavy on the raisin, fading quickly into an almost woody dryness with a touh of pepper but not as satisfying as I was expecting. Very good though.
