COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boris is a jet black colour with an off-white head. The aroma is dark chocolate and coffee. The flavour starts like espresso then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramel malt flavors. Clean and crisp, full- bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel.

On tap feral! Pours a jet black with a tanned head. Roasted coffee, cocoa and piney hops in the nose. Taste is incredibly smooth. Like a mocha bomb exploding on the palate. Loads of dark chocolate and espresso. Thick mouth feel. 11.5%...what alcohol? Hidden so well. Definitely worth the wait. Awesome beer!!! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

RafeAU (368) - Kingston, AUSTRALIA - JUL 3, 2015
Bottle from Plonk. Pours jet black with a tiny off-white head. American hops and dark malt aroma. Medium-thick body with lively carbonation. Coffee roasty flavour with a hint of chocolate, slight sweetness moves into moderate hop bitterness, some astringency and alcohol on the finish. Very good, well balanced.

Part of Matt's 31st birthday haul. Opaque black-brown with thin beige head. Some streaky lacing. Smells of oat, toast, coffee, very mild fruit (berry and banana?). Taste is burnt coffee, lightly sour, dark fruit (plum, berry). Body is smooth, slick but not heavy, a bit burnt/acidic. Great oat-y aroma that the taste and palate don't quite live up to, but an excellent beer overall.

HKdIPA (433) - HONG KONG - JUN 19, 2015
Bottle from Bottle Shop at home. Opaque black pour, light tan head. Aroma is rich dark chocolatey roasted malts with a savory (in a good way) note too. Wood too. Nice. Taste is very smooth - bitter, very round, big roasted malt and boozy punch, but not as much as some other imperial stouts. Rich smooth palate without being heavy. Different from most big imperial stouts in its smoothness and round flavors. Good.

Pours pitch black, tan head. Nose is dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee, rich plum, some red fruit. Flavor is sweet caramel, roasted coffee, dark, bitter chocolate. However itís there and then itís gone. Finish is a little burnt toast, a little more caramel, but surprisingly short. Velvety smooth mouthfeel, heavy body. Not at all what I expected, I expected something with more flavor and less crispness. However I canít help but be impressed with the cleanness and the mouthfeel of this beer.

Bottle: Shaker: Almost completely black beer with a creamy beige head. Aroma and flavour are quite typical but above average for itís style. Nice roasty, earthy, coffee, malty, caramel and bay leaf tones. Good not to strong subtle bitterness, makes it an even more easier drinker. 9.1%ABV wouldnít say that at all, well done! Aftertaste is soft roasty with some nice malty tones, light bitters and a toasty/bready/spiced mixed sprinkle. Low carbo, light creamy mouthfeel, close to full bodied. Nice stuff! Thanks Owen!

Pours out inky black with a small beige head. Aroma is normal stout, nothing to hint at the higher ABV or more robust taste. Taste brings in some chocolate, roast grains, burnt toast. Very mild, warmth come on late in the game. Not a heavyweight RIS, but a good contender in the middleweight class.

Maris (1138) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - DEC 30, 2014
From a 330ml bottle on 30/12.2014. Pours a very dark brown with the barest of heads. Has a pleasant nose featuring lots of roasty notes, along with some toffee and caramel. Itís very complex in the mouth, with oodles of espresso and burnt and roasted malt most prominent. But thereís also lots of sweet and spicy nuance to be found. The roasty bitterness ultimately hold sway over the milk chocolate, fudge and caramel sweetness, but it remains very nicely balanced. The body is quite light for an impy with the carbonation average. Very nice indeed.

Pyobon (1093) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - DEC 21, 2014
(Bottle) Very black with a small tan head. Pleasant but quite restrained aroma - coffee, hints of chocolate, toffee, toast and raisins. Fantastic mouthfeel - full bodied, syrupy, sticky with velvety carbonation with a small prickly hint of brightness to it. Great taste - rich and complex. Thereís a nice balance between toffee sweetness and complex bitterness with hints of black coffee, burnt toast and hops. Very impressive.

Black... small diminishing light brown head, aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee, full bodied, slick with a long lasting bitter aftertaste, excellent representation of an imperial stout

nice dark brown with ruby highlights and small tan head that quickly dissipates. Aromas of mocha, cocoa, caramel and vanilla. Lots of dark chocolate, golden syrup, a little coffee, then quite a bit of hop bitterness, charred meat and slight metallic aftertaste. A bit thinner bodied than I normally like in a RIS, but a pretty good Aussie one.
