COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Recent times has seen the traditional hop growing regions of Germany endeavouring to breed flamboyant and expressive aroma and flavour hops to rival the varieties offered by the new world US, New Zealand and Australia growers. We thought it was about time to see what these new German hops were about and have sourced the high oil varieties of Polaris, Mandarina, Bavaria, Saphire and Herkules. This German IPA has come out bursting with fresh stone fruit, mandarin and grassy aromas. The flavour is choc full of spicy resinous hops, and is rounded out by a solid whack of bitterness.

On tap at Brewski. Rating from early May. Not bad not good but about middle ground. Looks okay but the flavour doesnít quite hit the mark.

UPDATED: JUN 24, 2014 Tap at Old Faithful. Pours hazy golden with a firm white head. Nose is quite unique - very herbal with heavy citric zest and lemon myrtle. Taste is grassy and herbal with heavy citrus tang and stone fruits. Quite unique beer. Great balance between the herbal notes and citrus zest. I like it a lot

Bottle. Clear pale gold with a white head. Aroma of honeydew melon, tinned peaches, mandarins, grass, pine. Sweet with loads of peach, biscuit, some grass. Dryish with a spicy menthol and quite bitter finish but the sweetness still hangs around a tad. Probably would work better in summer. Didnít do much for me but didnít hate it.

So, hopfen fahrt - a ride of hops hey!? Off we go! Sourish, fresh, garden in winter is the nose with lilies, nettles, lemonbalm, apple curd, and.., just, a lot more apple. Aroma is of a Scandinavian cider - wick.., er, weird! Yellow gold, shy of bright with a shortlived, wispy head. Strikingly phenolic, twiggy bark and clove, plastic and smoke on the palate. Light in body and yet far too tangy and cloying in the finish. Clammy and sickly poured by sour citrus fruit esters. Aftertaste of sawdust. Just did not enjoy this one. Had no idea what it was even trying to achieve. Bland. (33cL, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Pours amber with a fading head. Nose shows spicy, herbal and floral hops with some grassy notes followed by some sweet biscuity malt. Similar flavours, very herbal, grassy and spicy. Just a touch of malt underneath.

From a 330ml bottle on 19/8/2014. Pours a clear very light golden with a bi bright head. Has a light passionfruit aroma. Itís a quite curious beast in the mouth, with apple and sweet and sour citrus fruit and some bready malt, but its soon overtaken by a big, very dry, chemical tasting bitterness. Has a medium body and lively carbonation. It has the makings of a good beer but the finish is just a bit harsh and disconcerting. Interesting but doesnít quite pull it off.

Poured a cloudy golden colour with a two-finger white foamy head that retained very well but laced poorly. Carbonation high and coarse. Aroma with citrus/grapefruit, a hint of melon and some floral notes. Taste unusual with tarty grapefruit, spice and some sweetness. Light body. A lingering tartness on the finish.

Tap at old faithful. Pours a clear orange with a white head. Nose is quite grassy/herbal with citrus notes and zest. Quite appealing. Taste is well balanced. Citric zest and herbal/clove spices backed a subtle grassy bitterness. Liked this one ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a bottle. Pours cloudy amber, mild citrus and a definite grapefruit flavour with a resin feel. Good stuff.
