Tap at Feral Brewery. Pours pitch black with a short off-white head. Super citrusy nose, lots of lime, passionfruit and grapefruit. Taste carries the citrus flavours plus dark malt flavours, touch of liquorice. Sunny autumn Sunday, perfect beer for the occasion. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Archive Beer Boutique. This would have to be the best black IPA that I have head. Deep black colour with a good head, the flavour of this beer is what stands out for me. I think it is the fruitiness that cuts through some of the hoppiness, a distinct citrus touch.

ALLOVATE (2101) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - JAN 23, 2013
Draught @ Feral Brewing Company, Baskerville.
Presents well. Big, dollop of tannish foam atop a sparkling, darkest ruby body. Smoke, ash and tobacco atop a whole pineforest and fruit punch bowl of hops. Indecisively soft on the palate; subtle, creamy and yet ashen and powdery in mouthfeel. Quite light on; smoke and dusty dark malts, a touch of cola beer upfront with a backdrop of piney, floral and spicy hops. Laxed in bitterness on the swallow. The finish oh so long and full of flavour with a fragrant perfume and low citrus. The hops a little faded on this one - older sample perhaps! This is quite a sessionable number as is though. I expected in your face but this was soft and pleasing. Not too shabby!!

Tap at Chapel Farm. Pours a pitch black body with a creamy off black head. Aroma just explodes with passionfruit and citrus fruits backed by slight chocolate undertones. Taste is pretty much the same just a really fruity beer so easy to drink and hard to put your glass down. Not overly bitter and the chocolate notes make it really smooth. Its like a black hop hog. Wish they bottled this beauty. One of my favs

My favorite black IPA. Almost indescribable flavors. The mixture of malt and citra give it this insane toffee complexity. I really wish they would start bottling this.

Beautiful citrus fragrance. Lively sour aftertaste with nice complexity. Nice afternoon ale.

More on the IPA side of things than the stouty porter flavour. Head dropped off quickly, but the flavour finishes with a lovely citrus note. On tap, Bier Deluxe. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a real dark colour with a beautiful beige head. Aroma is citrus and tropical fruit with dark malts and hops. Taste is a similar story with a slight roastiness. The finish is quite a nice combination of citrus fruits and bitter hop. Really great

Pours a lovely dark brown with a nice beige head and great lacing. The aroma and flavour is very similar to the hop hog a nice pine. grapefruit with some added dark malt undertones. Overall even tho it did taste very similar to the hop hog i loved this beer.
