A rich malty black ale that showcases the tropical fruit character of the hop variety citra.

Purchased as part of Bridge roads 24 days till Christmas Bottle. Pours a dark black with minimal head carbonation> Aroma. Sweet tropical fruits, and what i can best describe as a combination of caramel and banana on the nose. Taste. A general roastiness throughout, with flavours of citrus and toffeed banana. Overall. Quite a good beer, and a good choice as it’s the first of this style i’ve experienced.

Cask @ Keg & Brew. Medium brown, medium head. Hoppy aroma is a bit citrusy. The palate is toasty, citrusy. On cask a light lively body. Creamy finish. Flavourful, good brew.

(Bottle) Fantastic looking beer - black, showing ruby when held to light, with good mocha coloured head. Lovely fresh pine and citrus aroma. Great palate, medium bodied, smooth with excellent carbonation. Taste is great too. Refreshing tartness in foretaste gives way to a rich dark roast malt, chocolate, coffee mid palate with some contrasting tarter fruity hints. This smoothly transitions into a very pleasant hoppy bitter finish.

Beer pours dark brown almost black with a Mocha coloured medium head. The Aroma is tropical and Citrus from the Hops with a light coffee and roast from the Malt. The flavours are as per the Aroma and are well balanced between the hop flavour and dark malts. Maybe not as hop forward as some would hope but still an enjoyable beer.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2015 Dark, with grassy, herbal and citrus aromas dominating. Solid bitterness with burnt and toffee flavours which are quickly overwhelmed by the hops. Quite nice, but sits halfway between interesting and sessiony.

Keg at the Local Taphouse, Sydney on 10th September 2015. Black with pale brown foam. Intense aroma of fine citrus and smoky roastiness. Exquisite roastiness and fine grapefruit hop in-mouth. Resoundingly roasty and bitter finish. A good body and zingy mouthfeel. Superb!

From a bottle. A very balanced version, not too much of the dark malt flavour and not a huge hop slap. Nice stuff.

330 ML bottle Kind of a flat black cola color. No head at all. Had to work to get a head. Once got one it was a light brown color and looked much better in the glass. Head fades quickly though. Nose is pretty typical for the style. Citrus, Pine, Coffee, and roast. Citrus is a bit softer and pine less assertive. Reasonable nose. Taste is citrus acid and coffee acid up front. Far more about the roast and malt than hops. A little too stout like and not as hop driven. Really astringent at times. A lot of coffee acid finish and more like overdrawn coffee really. A bit odd and a bit rough. Needs a bit more finish.

Yep, black ale, fruity hop dominant, roasted grainy malt, thin and dryish. What is a Black India Pale Ale? Anyway it’s OK.

Fruity nose. Black beer with thin head. Medium body. Fruity/cocoa finish. Really interesting beer. Recommended.
