Tap at Chapel Farm. Pours a pitch black body with a creamy off black head. Aroma just explodes with passionfruit and citrus fruits backed by slight chocolate undertones. Taste is pretty much the same just a really fruity beer so easy to drink and hard to put your glass down. Not overly bitter and the chocolate notes make it really smooth. Its like a black hop hog. Wish they bottled this beauty. One of my favs

On tap at Flat Rock Beer Cafe, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small tan head. Aroma brings out a good mix of roasted malt and piney hops. Flavour follows accordingly with lots of roasted malt and piney hops in good balance. A quintessential example of this style brewed well. Very good.

Poured a black colour with a slight reddish edge tint. Developed a huge tan coloured head that retained well and laced lightly; huge head detracts from overall appearance. Carbonation light and fine giving a nice mouthfeel. Aroma of grapefruit (there but not strong) with hints of sweet malt. Taste of roasted malt, coffee and grapefruit/citrus/tropical fruits; unusual combination. Light to medium body. Crisp and smooth with roasted coffee on the finish. Nice.

Vom Fass. Schwarzes glänzendes klares Bier mit flachem Schaum. Es riecht nach Hopfen, Holz und Kaffee mit etwas muffigem Fehlton. Antrunk bitterer Hopfen, dann Röstmalz. Wenig Süsse. 5/5/6/3/13

330ml bottle from Beer Cartel, Sydney. Poured a deep, slightly ruddy brown with a small and mostly fading dark beige to light tan head leaving a slight lace. Aromas of pine, mango, roasted malt and coffee but with the former the more dominant pairing. The palate is the converse with the roasted malts and coffee characters to the fore. Mid-weight, crisp and firm. Medium carbonation with a moderate to full length and intensity malt-centric finish.

Bottle. Dark black and good mocha head. Delicious citrus aromas and just a lick of dark malt. Strong citrus flavours, enjoyable, without overbearing bitterness and a gentle dark malt background. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of my favourite finds this year. Great blend of chocolatey malt and citrus hops.

330ml bottle from Leura Cellars, Leura. Black colour, beige foam head leaving lacing and aroma of smoke, malt, fruity citrus hops. Taste is malt caramel, smoke, ash, with fruity floral citrus, grapefruit & pine, hoppy bitterness. Foamy mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry hoppy & roasted bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Drank during MD with Jay Amanda Matt after ICS lunch. From Craftissimo. Pitch black, medium light tan creamy frothy head, lots of delicate lacing. Smells of dark/burnt coffee, burnt malt, booze, tobacco. Nose has complex big flavours but overall it's relatively light, not too heavy at all. Taste is dark malt, bitter coffee chocolate, stony, Body is medium, slick, not at all creamy, slightly lemony. Very enjoyable, bitter and burnt but still very drinkable.
