Tap at Chapel Farm. Pours a pitch black body with a creamy off black head. Aroma just explodes with passionfruit and citrus fruits backed by slight chocolate undertones. Taste is pretty much the same just a really fruity beer so easy to drink and hard to put your glass down. Not overly bitter and the chocolate notes make it really smooth. Its like a black hop hog. Wish they bottled this beauty. One of my favs

Keg at the Local Taphouse, Sydney on 10th September 2015. Black with pale brown foam. Intense aroma of fine citrus and smoky roastiness. Exquisite roastiness and fine grapefruit hop in-mouth. Resoundingly roasty and bitter finish. A good body and zingy mouthfeel. Superb!

From a bottle. A very balanced version, not too much of the dark malt flavour and not a huge hop slap. Nice stuff.

330 ML bottle Kind of a flat black cola color. No head at all. Had to work to get a head. Once got one it was a light brown color and looked much better in the glass. Head fades quickly though. Nose is pretty typical for the style. Citrus, Pine, Coffee, and roast. Citrus is a bit softer and pine less assertive. Reasonable nose. Taste is citrus acid and coffee acid up front. Far more about the roast and malt than hops. A little too stout like and not as hop driven. Really astringent at times. A lot of coffee acid finish and more like overdrawn coffee really. A bit odd and a bit rough. Needs a bit more finish.

Yep, black ale, fruity hop dominant, roasted grainy malt, thin and dryish. What is a Black India Pale Ale? Anyway it’s OK.

The aroma is big hoppy citrus goodness, a little papery but also some roasted marshmallow notes. Decent head and pour. Fantastic mouthfeel, creamy and full. A touch of sweet malt on the finish, a bit of hops mid palate but not overpowering. Great beer.

From a 330ml bottle on 25/8/2015. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Chocolate malt and fruity hops feature in the aroma. Flavour wise, there’s roasted, caramel and chocolate malt, mango and peach, and a decent dash of hops. Not overly sweet, it has a creamy texture and medium carbonation. A solid enough black IPA.

Deep cola/ black body with light tan head. Nose is a burnt toffee and coffee aroma with a hint of leather - smells quite malty and leaves one in anticipation for a sweet, heavy brew. The dark malts certainly sit at the front of this beer, slight bit of bitterness but it’s not at all prominent. Toffee and roast nut come through. Not thick enough, nor does it melt in your mouth as much as id like for the style - a little watery and a reasonably tasteless aftertaste leave me disappointed and wanting for a heavier representation of the style.

From 330 ml bottle. Pours a solid black with a hint of honey-brown at the very edge and a thick, lasting tan head. Aromas of pineapple, grapefruit, pine needles, overripe mango and lime. Taste is tropical fruit up front before a firm pine and lemon zest bitterness washes in. Light coffee and a bit of fresh pear at the end. Substantial mouth feel. Fruity aftertaste. A really approachable black IPA.
