COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our version of the popular pale ale style has a contribution from all corners of the brewing globe. It contains a combination of German and Australian malts to which we add British and American hops. The wort is then fermented with ale yeast of German origin. The resulting beer however represents a classic American style pale due to the dominant cascade hops that contribute their distinctive grapefruit and passionfruit aromas and flavors. Silver Medal 2003 Australian International Beer Awards.

This along with the stout was my favourite of the Feral offerings. Strongly reminiscent of Little Creatures, this is a very "hopped up" pale ale, with generous floral hops dominating the nose and the palate. I thought it was excellent with loads of hop flavour.

An average Pale considering the Feral wheat and white are tops. Lacks drinkabilty. Well balanced.

We are a bit spoilt in this flavour profile now, specially because this state produces the fine Lttle Creatures. This has a similar promise but it doesn’t come through with the goods. There is a hint of the APA but if it is to be called such a beer the assertiveness should be more prominent.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2005 Re-rate 08/08/05 - Tasted on draught at my usual watering hole, the historic Guildford Hotel, Guildford, late on a wintry Sunday. Poured a clear pale amber with a short and loose bubbly white head that left a little lace. Light grassy and citric hop aroma, not much there that I could make out as I was surrounded by Sunday revellers. Quite creamy in the mouth, fruity and lightly yeasty across the palate (a lot different from my first tasting!). Mixture of pale soft fruits, melons, peaches and apricots, lightly bitter and grassy in the back before a reasonably long tangy fruit swallow. Medium light in body and carbonation, it had an odd woody malt note that came in towards the end of the pint. Nice balance, refreshing and thirst quenching, it is still a great light quaffer that seems to have evolved for the better. A decent APA.

On tap at brewery: This one was considerably better than the pils. Very faintly hazy gold amber with a large off white head. Aroma has lychee passionfruit and floral nectar. Medium bitter floral hop and light biscuity sweet malts flavour mirroring aroma. Clean crisp drying finish. Not bad.

Heavy, sweet tropical flavours are a little overpowering for my tastes, however it had a quality malt flavour, pity about all the cascade.

Englishy hops. A decent swigger. We all seem to like that here at the Brisbane festival of beers. Decent hop bite, fresh pale malt. Almost little creaturesy.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2003 An improved version of the creditable Little Creatures. This American style makes a great impression on the first glass. I'm biased towards ales so rate this as Ferals best but know a few who highly rate his wheat.
