3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a 330ml bottle on 30/1/2013 (ABV 4.9%, not 4.7%). Pours a very dark amber with a big head. Has a strong smell of smoky bacon. Flavour wise, there’s lots of chocolate malt, molasses, and smoked meats. The bitterness is medium and the carbonation relatively lively. All up, a very pleasant smoked beer. Quite surprised it isn’t rated more highly.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle. Poured a clear ruby-hued chestnut brown with a fizzy, mostly fading light tan head. Aromas of roasted nuts, bacon, lapsang souchong and some mid to dark fruit. Much the same to taste with some yeasty complexities on the back palate. Light to medium body, medium to full carbonation, quite a firm-textured mouthfeel and then a lengthy finish of smoked malts, tea and salt-rubbed bacon.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown with a lightly frothy head.
Hints of malt and smoke but not enough to keep me interested.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark, little bubbles on sight but can taste a bit of fizz. Smokey, caramel in aroma. Tastes very much like bacon. Smooth on tongue. Not much lingering in finish.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask, Union Hotel. Medium brown. Very light smoke and gently roasty nose. Soft body...light smoke but it’s kind of ashy. Malts are sweet, little bit toffeeish.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at SQUE Rotisserie & Alehouse, Singapore
Dark brown clor, almost black, with small head. There is some smoke and firewood aroma. The flavor confirms and underlines that the smoke profile of this beer is more a Schwarzwäld Schinken than the one from peat; the body is lean, almost weak; there is some roasted malt flavor.
Pleasant but not exciting.

My 1st porter. Smells and tastes like smoked ham. Nice and dark. Can't see a lot of bubbles but it is quite fizzy. A nice beer with a nice taste.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured an opaque black with cherry red tints around the edges and a one- to two-finger light tan frothy head that retains a while but then collapses to a thin film of bubbles across the top of the beer. Aroma pleasantly of smoked ham/bacon. Taste pleasantly of smoked ham, not over powering. Light to medium body but thin body for a porter. Finish short smooth soft and smoky but a trace metallic on the back palate. For me, a great beer.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Deep dark brown with frothy tan head. Aromas of milk chocolate followed by a big whack of smoke from a smoldering fire. Immediate smoke flavour, leading into dark chocolate and a good hop bitterness. A long, sweetish lactose finish. Over carbonated which really lets the beer down, with an unpleasant fizzy mouthfeel. Big shame. Could have been a cracker.
