COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Feral smoked porter has a very gentle bitterness and combines the classic coffee and chocolate character of the Porter style with a subtle smoked hickory flavour derived from the use of peated distiller’s malt.

Bottle pours deep opaque brown black with big bottle gushing light tan head. Aromas of light smoke, wood, hints of chocolate coffee and acrid toasty nutty graininess. Light med highly carbonated body, lightly acrid, earthy hop character finishing light chocolate and nutty and earthy.

(Bottle) Clear dark brown with no head - looks like flat coke. Pleasant and unusual aroma - a nice interesting and rich smokiness - definitely wood, but reminds me of bacon! Maybe a hint of coffee. Light body and light carbonation. Taste is pleasant and interesting - the smokiness is the most apparent component, and it has a richness to it, it is just what is needed to add interest to what is otherwise quite a basic beer. There’s some pleasant dark roast malt sweetness undertones, and a little porter sharpness. It’s a pleasant take on a smoked porter - not challenging like some smoked beers and some porters can be - but there is room for improvement.

Nice nose that only hints at a smokey beer, chocolate and coffee aromas dominate as a porter should. Doesnt hold a head and very little carbonation. Very shallow, dry flavour profile with a harsh bitterness that dominates. Tannins and a dry finish whigh releases a pleasing coffee flavour. Thin beer that could have done with just a little (any at all) sweetness to entice the drinker to want more than one.

Pours dark with a beige head. Aroma is malt, coffee, chocolate and hints of smoke. Taste is sweet and roasty leading to a light smoke finish. OK.

Followed a heavy streak meal, expecting a good refreshing coffeeish maltiness and sweet-bitterness. Although porter itself is not my cup of tea, this one has no character I should say. Starts with malty sweetness and hurries to a bit watery exit. Hmmmm,,,

Bottle shared by my friend home from Australia. Pours brown hazy with a thin wispy off white head that is very thin. Aroma has roasted malt peat and mild chocolate with faint day old coffee. Taste is more of the above with the smoke peat showing though. Palate is thin and slick and a little cloying. Decent brew and definitely one I would not get to try again!

Pours a very dark brown, almost cola looking. Little to no head, slight beige foam forming. Can definetly tell the smoked influence and upon tasting this is the initial taste on the palate. Hickory bacon aftertaste suits on the rainy afternoon.

Pours dark red to black, big smoke taste but a bit light on other flavours. Bitterness is well balanced with malty characters.

330ml bottle. Poured a clear ruby-hued chestnut brown with a fizzy, mostly fading light tan head. Aromas of roasted nuts, bacon, lapsang souchong and some mid to dark fruit. Much the same to taste with some yeasty complexities on the back palate. Light to medium body, medium to full carbonation, quite a firm-textured mouthfeel and then a lengthy finish of smoked malts, tea and salt-rubbed bacon.
