UPDATED: JUL 8, 2005 Rerate Thinnish head, flavor not as chocolatey this time around, aroma a bit too sweet; still a decent Dunkel though. Original 3.6 Picked up at Habersham Beverage Warehouse in Savannah, Ga. Pleasant chestnut brown pour with a pillowy off white head and good sticky lacing. Aroma has some sweet nutty accents with a back end of wort. Flavor has some of the same accents with a noticeable chocolatey bent. Also detect a wee bit of coffee. One of the more flavorful dunkels that I have come across. Mouthfeel, while a bit thin is appopriate for the style. A definite winner.

Pours a dark ruby color with a thin off white head. The aroma is hay and some bananas with nutmeg. The taste is a slightly sweet apricot with some grass and some light smoke. Also a little bit of roasted peanuts.The finish is a little dry for me. A fairly nice dunkel. Best by March 29, 2005.

Chestnut to copper color with a small layer of tiny tan bubbles. Great color just not much head out of this bottle. Mild sweetened nut and hint of roasted malt in the aroma. Light mocha flavors with a touch of hops late in the quaff. A very unassuming and drinkable dunkle. I certainly could sit and drink this all evening. Very smooth on the palate.

Bottle. Brown colour with a huge beige head. Aroma and flavour of roasted malt, caramel and fruit.

Draught at Uusi Apteekki, Turku. Dark reddish brown color. The aromas of dark bread, caramel and toffee. In the flavor dark bread and toffee is on the top with some caramelly background notes. Slightly sweet but not overly so. Quite nice breakfast beer.

Darkbrown with a creame head. Aroma is malty, slightly roasted. Taste is sweet malt and light hop.

0,5 l bottle. Poursd deep brown with a small tan head. Aroma is weak roasted malts, light chocolate. Full bodied, very good for this low abv beer. Taste is full of light roasted malts, maybe a touch on the sweet side, but not too much. Here is caramel mixed with chocolate, even some noticeable liquorice, nice Czech dunkel.

Draught at Christian Firtal, Odense. Dark ruby colour when held to the light. A bit fizzy. Moderate aroma of caramel malts. Flavour is moderately sweet with caramel and chocolate notes. Hints of blackcurrants. Some hops in the finish, more than in many other dunkels.

Dark brown coloured body with a tan head and a bunch of bubbles. Bright aroma of roasted malt, pit fruits and a bit of earthiness. Medium-bodied; Strong malty flavour complete with coffee and nuts, tucked in with sugars and some mild hops. Aftertastes nice and complex - definitely a good beer. Overall, worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this pint on draught at Ferdinanda in Praha, Ceska Republica in March 2008.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2006 Black with a red tint. Thick khaki colored head that fades slowly. Some lacing, and a lasting layer of foam. It looks wonderful. Malt and caramel aroma. Flavor is heavy roasted malt and smoke with caramel as well. Full bodied and easy to drink. Outstanding dunkel, served on draught at Ferdinanda in Prague.
