It poured a dark brown color with an off-white head. The aroma was of spice, some fruit and hints of roasted malt. The taste was of spice and some fruit with a touch of chocolate. This was a very good Belgian Strong Ale.

Tap at the brewery. Poured a deep amber color with a tiny white head that was gone as quick as the beer poured. Aroma was grains, caramel, and some mild alcohol. Flavor was a malty, sweeter candy, molasses, with some cooked syrup. Kind of oliy. Long finish. Heavy. Very good.

On tap at the Brewhouse. Served a deep mahogany color with a decent off-white head and good lacing. Pleasant aroma of herbs and spice, with some fruit sweetness and a trace of roasted malt. Flavor of spice and a mild sweetness. A mixture of fruit and a bit of chocolate. just a bit of tart and a dry finish. Medium body, very smooth with no hint of the alcohol. Very well balanced. Very good holiday offering. Goes down way to easy. Tis the season to enjoy.

Tasted on tap at brewpub in a sampler glass. Poured a nice transparent dark reddish-brown color with average off-white head, short-lived with just a little Belgian lace. Very nice aroma of grains, fresh bread, fruitcake, mildly herbal/floral/citrusy hops plus fruit, ginger, pepper and clove presumably from the combination of grains of paradise and Belgian yeast phenols. Flavors of a complex grainbill, tart malt-sweetness, nice noble-seeming hops flavor, nuts and apricots, caramel and brown bread. A unique, interesting, and highly delicious Christmas ale. By far the best brew I had at Ferguson today.

Pint at the brewpub a few hours after it was released. A murky brown hue and a very small lumpy and blotchy head. Sticky lacing follows the beer down. The nose was faint but had ginger bread, cloves, nutmeg, and some meat (?). The first thing I taste is grain and a lot of it. Perhaps something like chicory, too. After a few sips some clove began to peek through along with a hint of cocoa but that grain dominates. Dry earthiness emerges half way through the pint. Pepper is very light and is barely noticed. Alcohol is also masked. The finish is earth and grain.
