3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 sneagrams3 (2337) - St. Louis, USA - SEP 26, 2011
Tasted 9/26/11. Growler from the Brewpub. The listing on the chalkboard listed this at 8.5% at time of purchase. Pours mildly hazy with a rosy, orange amber hue. Spiraling off white head. Aromas of bready malts and grapefruit rind. Sweet sugary citrus nose. Full bodied with a solid palate and nice, dry flavors. Medium roasted malts with a slightly nutty and fruity nuance. Nice mix of sweet, sticky and tart in the front. The finish is lingering with a mix of bitter and tart. The high gravity contributes to the sweet and sugary flavors, but the alcohol itself doesn’t really overtake the rest of the palate. The hops are bitter, floral and citrusy. Citrus rind and grapefruit. Grassy and mildly resinous. Tasty!

On draft at the St Louis Microfest. Pours a cloudy pale amber with a small off white head. Caramel aroma. Sweet malt taste along with bubble gum and a sharp citrus character. Very good.

Somewhat sour, tasted off. Pretty disappointed. Hot from alcohol. No where near hoppy enough.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Bif (623) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 1, 2012
On tap- Served a hazy copper color with a small head and good lacing. Aroma of citrus, bit of pine and sweet malt with fresh grain. Taste of citrus, roasted malt with a nice bitterness and a dry finish. Fairly medium body, crisp and refreshing. Nice balance. No hint of the alcohol. Nice beer, quite enjoyable. Well worth a try.

Tap from the brewery. Poured a hazy yellowish orange color. Pillow white head that left lacing on the glass as it went. Fresh hops, pine aroma. Flavor was pine, citrus and grass. Oily textuare. Not as bitter as I would have like, still very good and drinkable.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 seymour (786) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 4, 2011
Tasted on tap at the brewpub. Appeared a light golden color with chill haze and moderate off-white head, good retention with nice lace. Aromas and flavors typical of true English IPA. The beer was plenty bitter, but nothing like some APAs. The hops were much more pronounced in the middle-ground flavor which I liked. I couldn’t really tell this was Imperial strength, I refuse to believe it was really 8% alchohol, but it was an overall well-balanced beer.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 vyvvy (2920) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - AUG 19, 2011
Pours amber/copper with an off-white head. The aroma is lightly sweet, fruity, light spice and a bit of hop bitterness. Medium / full body with a small amount of soft carbonation. The flavor starts with earthy / woody hops, toasty caramel malt and crackers. The finish is resiny, earthy, woody and abrasive. Okay IIPA ~ seems like it is showing some age & was probably better before I got mine.

It poured a medium amber color with a small sized off white head. The aroma was of citrus, pine, melons, and some malts. The taste was of citrus, melons, caramel, and pines. A decent IPA.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Strykzone (3133) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JUL 2, 2011
Pint at the brewpub. My glass was probably near the bottom of the keg. It was beyond cloudy with tons of suspended yeast. The beer was a dingy orange, gold, brown and did not look like any other IIPA I have had. The nose was citrus fruity and yeast as was the flavor. Nice grapefruit that is not overpowering, pine, and a malt backbone that doesn’t quite keep up with the hops. Alcohol was not noted at all. This managed to be both big and refreshing. Well done.
