3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the Brewhouse. Served a deep brown color with a good tan head that fades to some lacing. Aroma of vanilla, dark fruit, roasted malt, some chocolate and bit of coffee. Taste of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit with some coffee. Mild bitterness and a clean finish. Body is quite full, quite smooth and creamy. As it warms the vanilla aroma increases a bit and has a nice warming feel. Nice beer for the style. Nice sipper on a cold evening.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap from the brewery. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller tan head. Aroma was very over dominated by vanilla. Chocolate was also present. Flavor was all vanilla. Just too much vanilla and not enough bourban present to help balance this beer. Average at best. Still good to try , as others in our group really loved this one. Just too much vanilla for me.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tasted on tap at the brewpub in a sampler glass. A dark brown color with weak off-white head, not much lace or legs. Extreme vanilla aroma and flavor overpowered all other aspects. Couldn’t really tell much about the malts, hops, or alcohol. Couldn’t detect any bourbon either, it just tasted like a cloyingly sweet, slightly roasty vanilla cream soda. Light-medium body, strong carbonation, slick mouthfeel. The chalkboard stated it was 9% alcohol, which I simply do not believe. It’s too bad: a bourbon strong porter is a great concept. A real missed opportunity.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
It poured a dark brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was tons of vanilla and a little chocolate flavoring. The flavor was more vanilla with minor hints of chocolate. I really enjoyed this bourbon porter.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pour is a dark brown with no head at all. Aroma is lots of vanilla and chocolate syrup. Flavor is an intense vanilla with chocolate and heavy whipping cream. It’s like they melted a brick of vanialla ice cream in every glass. This was good but I could not take more then a small sample.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours very dark brown with a tight tan head. The aroma has big vanilla, chocolate, milkshake and dark non-bitter malt. The body is smooth and rich just like the aroma and it gives a slick coating to the mouth and has mild carbonation. The flavor starts with all of the vanilla, chocolate and maltiness of the aroma with a little warmth from the alcohol and a hint of spice. The finish shows a touch of bourbon, earthy hops, some bitterness from the roast and a bit more pleasing alcohol warmth. Nice porter.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft served in a snifter at the brewpub. Pours a deep, opaque brown, almost black, with a finger-thick tan head. Aroma explodes with vanilla, which doesn’t mellow out any as the beer warms and goes down, along with caramel and roasted malts, cocoa, and wood- not really any bourbon to speak of. Flavor offers more vanilla up front, along with cocoa, caramel, chocolate, and roasted malts, and the alcohol heat shows up late, though it isn’t easy to identify as bourbon. Medium-bodied, with a rich, sweet mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. This isn’t the most graceful bourbon aging and there’s too much vanilla, but it’s till an interesting, tasty, fun-to-drink beer.
