3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tasted 9/26/11. Growler from the Brewpub. Pours hazy with a reddish amber hue. Webbed off white head. Aromas of candy grapes and fruity esters. Apples pears and citrus. Mild cinnamon and clove with a floral yeast note. Full bodied with a good body and diverse palate. Sweet strawberries, bitter grapefruit. Caramel and graham crackers. Floral and spicy. Grapes and raisins. Apples and lemons. Just a ton of fruit and a decent alcohol note to off set the sugar. Nice perfumy, estery yeast flavor. Tangy and yet very easy. There’s a lot going on, but they all seem to work together. Layered and dynamic, but melded! This is worth a trip into the North County!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Lives up to its name. It is definitely a string wheat. Light copper. Strong lacing.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at the brewery/restaurant. Poured a deep amber color with a nicer two finger off white head. Aroma was caramel, cereal, toffee, and sweet malts. Deep buttersctoch taste, with caramel and malts. Longer finish. Heavy on the palate. Good beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted on tap at the brewpub. Appeared a mostly clear copper color with chill haze and weak off-white foam, little lace. Nice aroma hops. Some pepper, clove, citrus notes, but more like a German Weizen Bock or Dunkelweizen than a stronger Belgian Wit. Reminiscent of Schneider Aventinus, which is high praise indeed. Medium body, well-rounded wheaty mouthfeel, slightly warming alcohol, lasting bittersweet finish. A subtly balanced, well-crafted beer. I’ll definitely order this again.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Served in a snifter at the Brewhouse. Dark almost a mahogany color with hints of amber around the edge. Small head with some web-like lacing.
Aroma of dark fruits, cinnamon and spice sweetness. Trace of caramel malt. Smell is very inviting. Taste of dark fruits, mild cinnamon and spice sweetness with just a bit of caramel malt. There is a most subtle bitterness that is easy to overlook with a clean finish. Medium body, smooth, almost velvet-like texture. Very good balance with not hint of the alcohol, just a pleasant warming feeling. Excellent offering. Instead of drinking you sort of absorb this beer. Well worth stopping by try this one.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. Snifter at the brewpub. Darker tea in hue with a hint of red. A decent one finger off white head. A bitbof wheat in the nose bt it is faint and seems to offer little else. Feel is thick but not quite creamy. Despite the 9.3 abv this is not hot. I can feel it in my legs, though. This is not your typical hefe. It has wheat, sugar, yeast, and malt. No cloves, etc. are tasted. Hops are hard to find here but they are tasted, if barely. The finish was a bit spicy. Actually, it was pretty good if way too much alcohol.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
It poured a light red color with a small white head. The aroma was of fruits, some cloves, a little yeast and some fall flavors. The flavor was of fruits, floral and spices. Very good alcohol flavor, not overwhelming, almost barleywine-like. A very good Strong Ale.
