Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Marked June 2008. Pours a clear gold, with huge sticky legs from each swirl. Aroma is awesome, oaky, honey, perfume, and alcohol. Taste is sweet, vanilla, wildflowers, sweet oak and honey. Sweet, viscous, syrupy, with a bit of alcohol to complement the flavors. Awesome!

8-year-old, 1998 vintage:
Trickling honey wealth along sturdy wooden boards...A classy, liquorous mouthfeel alas falls into a short flavor with alcohol heat...Intricate legs decorate the glass for this somewhat faded version of an apparently more potent mead...Not as good as the straw wine which preceded...

2009-02-19. Crisp yellow body, headless, with some legs on the glass. (3+) Sweetly alcoholic aroma, ephemeral floral notes, light wood notes. Flavour is sweet up front with a dry middle, notes of wood and a sake like hotness that is a bit much but the sweetness returns throughout in varying capacities. Smooth medium palate. (3+) Rather nice but lacks the depth to support the alcohol. Bottle shared by HogTownHarry

Glass at Dieu du Ciel. Pours a clear orange gold with a touch of ruby to it. Vinuous, soft honey and spice. Toffee, big and sweet. Tastes like the honey syrup you get on baklava. Long and sweet, caramel and honey. Soft sweet honey. All meads should be required to be at least this good.

Clear light golden body displays impressive legs, as oily looking and lasting on the sides as Jadwiga. Strong flavored aroma, very liquorous. Dominant honey flavors, very almondish nature, marzipan and fresh all around. Complex profile evolution as it warms and breathes. I love the way those wood chunks flavors dances up the nostrils when smelling and in retronasal when holding it in mouth. Mellow floral counterparts procure the necessary balance. While this is liquorous, it excels at avoiding the excessive sweetness most meads propose. It is quite dry actually despite being well medium to full bodied, still and liquorous. Warming alcohol bite, oily. Feels contentrated, but never too much thanks to the dryness and a nice leafy herbal character. This is not subtle, but not trying to be agressive either. A fine terroir product. Seek this out.

Bottle (375ml). Shared with blankboy , garthicus, gregclow, jerc and mabel - via trade with viper666. Clear very pale yellow, no head. Boozy aroma, honey, mint & clover - sweet, but not too sweet. Taste - initially you taste every % of that ABV, but its a delicate clover and honey flavour, you just really enjoy it (I did). Light body, still, quick astringent (oak resin) finish - a bit of a sake burn in there too. Yummm.

Bottle (375ml) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a very, very pale oily gold with no head. Aroma: Whoa Nelly, its almost sake-like, whoa! Lots and lots of alcohol along with some sweet honey and floral notes. Strong flavour of alcohol and honey, slightly floral and with some wood and a strong boozy finish. Nice oily body. Pretty good (but damn its boozy!).
