Cask, The Pub, Leicester. Pale gold with a thin head. Aromas are melon, kiwi and strawberry with biscuit and lemon. Lightly nutty and floral. Flavours are sweet berry malts with lemon and hints of aniseed. Background dry biscuit malts with yeast and some woodiness. Pine with bitter lemon on the finish. Decent.

Cask at the Bricklayers Arms Yorkshire Festival, 25th Feb 2011. Bright clear golden amber with a small white head. Lovely lemony, dry, hoppy flavour. Light and drinkable for the strength. Clean finish, great condition. Good modern golden ale.

Cask (gravity dispense) at the Bricklayers Arms Yorkshire Beer Festival on 24 February 2011. One of a run of golden beers. Clean and fresh with some citric hop. Quite straightforward and easy-drinking. Entirely acceptable but didn’t really stand out from the crowd.

Cask conditioned at The Anchor, Birmingham. Gold with white head. If I hadn’t read below that this is a Ginger Ale, I would never have known, nothing in my notes suggests Ginger, there is a fruity, golden tanginess, some citrus note, it’s ok really.

Hand pulled at the Anchor, Birmingham. Supposed ginger beer here. Perhaps a little stem in the aroma. Flavour is like a pretty mildly hopped golden, with a hint of ginger furnace drawing back to leave straw malt. Quite nice really apart from the lack of ginge.

Fruit and hop aroma. Clear golden coloured hoppy and fruity lime flavour with a little dryness and bitterness in a crisp and creamy malt finish.

Cask handpull, Vin Quatre, Leicester. Lacing pale gold. Lemon meringue flava drying into nuttiness. Faint pine and pepper, pinch of coriander? Soft lychee citrus with vanilla afters, decent hops to balance the spice and sweetness. A bit mushy, but a well-integrated, hoppy and lingeringly nutty brew, completing a hatrick of lean, unfussy and enjoyable GAs.
