3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 presario (4137) - Stampede City, - DEC 13, 2011
Can. Big head on dark copper. Light malt scent, a little woody perhaps. Flavour is woody and malty. Tastes warm even when served cold. Finish is a little muddy, a mix of wood, root earth and a bit of hops. Maybe a touch of vanilla and a trace of a metallic note. Woody and vanilla but seems a touch thin in taste even with a noticeable palate. Kind of ESB-like.

An interesting red. Malty and creamy. Though I prefer a hoppier amber ale,

Single can purchased from Zyn Liqour on 02/05/2012. Colour: Dark brown and deep red with minimal beige head. Nose: Lots and lots of candy apple malt, dark rye dough, wet earth. Sweet but enticing. Taste: Medium sweet, medium light bitter, light sour. A mix of candied flavours dominant, glaze, candy apple, caramel, marshmallow. Late in the journey some woody bitterness does emerge but mostly this one is a candied treat.

Can at home, shared with Cole, served in a Maudite glass, of course. Pours mahogany, quite clear, with a 1-finger cream-coloured head; spotty lacing. Nose is creamed corn, some cheap maple syrup - like imitation maple syrup, like you get at Denny’s; red candies, and clean malt. A vague roots-and-berries note emerges as the beer warms as well. A last gasp of hops? Who can tell? Flavours of light, fading hops; loads of corny red fruit and malt. Short finish. Inoffensive, but bland.

Pours dark brown with a thin head. Aroma is very malty and sweet. Slight favour of burnt toast caramel and butter not great.

The pour is a dark amber with a thick foamy beige head that dies to a thick spotty cap. Some good carbonation in the glass. The nose is sweet and malted well with toffee and a light hop predominant. Tasting this one, we have a sweet chewy malt in the middle and a lightly bittered hop on the finish. Light carbonation and a nice medium body. Overall, not fantastic, but a good malty session brew.

355ml can poured an amber color with a small white head and very little lacing. Aroma is caramel and a little hops. Taste is light malty sweetness and a mild hoppy bitter finish. A decent amber ale with a light to medium body and light carbonation.
