COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our most decadent brew yet – a rich, strong winter black ale. A healthy addition of chocolate malt, plus infusions of dark organic cocoa and curacao orange peel provide unique flavour. Extra aging on oak adds smoothness and complexity.

Bottle share. Almost completely black with a bubbly light tan cap. A seaweed, roasted nuts, mocha, chocolate. Taste is roasted malt, light chocolate. I wish the taste was a bit more exciting like the aroma. Ooh. A burp leaves a bit of a dry zesty malt.

Thanks to Erik for this. Pours black with a small white ring. Aroma is light toasted malt and light dark chocolate. Taste is much the same, don’t really get the wood.

Pours a very dark possibly cloudy brown with very little to no light coming through and an average sized off white head. Aroma is chocolate, cocoa, oak, roasted malts and light sweet citrus. Flavour is roasted malts, cocoa, dark chocolate, citrus, oak and a moderately dry finish.

Bottle. Very dark pour with a thin light tan head. Aroma is chocolate and caramel with plenty of fruit notes, some cherry and a hint of citrus. Flavour is rich chocolate and caramel, citrus, some tart cherry. Surprisingly rich but not much lingering on the palate. Quite nice for the style.

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Light lacing clings and then slides into the body. The smell had a nice roasted nutty to light chocolate surrounding a light cake-like coffee-ness rounding out the aroma. The taste featured most of the previously mentioned flavors but let go of the chocolate part. A light cake to coffee aftertaste follows and lets a semi-dry finish to top it all off. On the palate, this one sat about medium on the body with a good sipping quality about it. Carbonation runs really smooth and lets in a nice rolling smooth feel all about. Overall, as an American Strong Ale, I can see it as a "winter seasonal," definitely. Recommend for dark beer lovers!

Pours an almost opaque black with a frothy brown head that leaves lots of lacing up the glass. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, light citrus and oranges with a touch of vanilla. Taste is vanilla, citrus oranges with a light bitterness, chocolate and a touch of roasted malts... Smooth, complex and balanced... Almost comes off a bit light bodied and cloying with a such a big abv. Great winter ale that’s easy to drink.

650ml brown bottle. Pours very dark brown, near black. Small creamy head on top. Nose has lots of cocoa and chocolate malt. The beer has cocoa and chocolate malt flavours, bit of citrus. Finishes with chocolate malts, late bitterness. Aftertastes of citrus peel and chocolate malt and some toastiness. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel (whatever that means..). Enjoyable winter warmer.

Noir avec un petit col marron. L’arôme de malt, mélasse et réglisse. Le goût est très similair, mais un peu aqueux. C’est ok...

Bomber. Deep dark hueless brown, tan foam mostly fades. Aroma of dark roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla. Bitter dark roast, sweet chocolate, oaky vanilla taste, a hint of orange. Average carbonation, medium-full bodied, low hopped. Short sweet smooth coco finish. DNFL (Definitely Not For Lagerboys)

Bomber. Pours very dark brown, dissipating beige head. Nose is roast, chocolate, licorice, wood. Flavour is same, licorice more up-front, some cherry cough syrup from the mixture of the flavours and alcohol that coats the mouth a bit, pretty thin mouthfeel. I didn’t read that it was oaked but now that makes sense.
