Our most decadent brew yet – a rich, strong winter black ale. A healthy addition of chocolate malt, plus infusions of dark organic cocoa and curacao orange peel provide unique flavour. Extra aging on oak adds smoothness and complexity.

Bottle share. Almost completely black with a bubbly light tan cap. A seaweed, roasted nuts, mocha, chocolate. Taste is roasted malt, light chocolate. I wish the taste was a bit more exciting like the aroma. Ooh. A burp leaves a bit of a dry zesty malt.

Pretty nice ale. Pours black with tan head and spotty lacing. Aromas are red berries, licorice, dark chocolate. Nice roasty flavours. Burnt malts, tangy strawberries, umami. Nice.

Dark brown body, brown head, some lacing. Fruity malty, tart, roast cocoa, a touch of citrus and grapes in the aroma. Taste is semi-sweet, rich malty, with a dry finish and lactose. Frothy palate.

Nice solid spongy beige head with a jet black body. Aroma of peat, chocolate, coffee, oak. Flavour is a strong sour mix of licorice and chocolate, smooth molasses. Wet finish. Nice and heavy with good intrigue in the aroma and flavour, the best Fernie brew I’ve tried to date.

Khaki colored head. Alcohol upfront, nice body to go with the 8%abv, roasty toasty caramel on the end along with chocolate and cocoa. You have to look for the orange peel which is nice, it’s not overdone. A great beer for a cold time of year.

Dark pour with a finger of pale foam that leaves nice lacing. Aroma of cocoa powder and a bit of fruit. Taste is a more muted chocolate with a lightly bitter finish.

Thanks to Erik for this. Pours black with a small white ring. Aroma is light toasted malt and light dark chocolate. Taste is much the same, don’t really get the wood.

Pours a very dark possibly cloudy brown with very little to no light coming through and an average sized off white head. Aroma is chocolate, cocoa, oak, roasted malts and light sweet citrus. Flavour is roasted malts, cocoa, dark chocolate, citrus, oak and a moderately dry finish.

Bottle. Very dark pour with a thin light tan head. Aroma is chocolate and caramel with plenty of fruit notes, some cherry and a hint of citrus. Flavour is rich chocolate and caramel, citrus, some tart cherry. Surprisingly rich but not much lingering on the palate. Quite nice for the style.
