First Trax Brown Ale is a soft, well rounded, and brewed with all British specialty malts and hops. It’s a malty, balanced brew with hints of chocolate and nutty undertones.

Can. Clear, dark reddish brown pour with a light tan head. Aroma is raisin and sweet bread. Flavour is very malty but not overly sweet, raisin and grape with slight bready notes and a little metallic. Soft carbonation with a pretty dry finish. Like most of Fernie’s offerings, pretty plain but fairly well balanced and very drinkable.

355 ml can from a Fernie sampler twelve-pack, served in a shaker pint glass. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown with a light brown, puffy head that leaves streaks of lace. Nose is roasted malt, nuts, and a bit of coffee and cocoa, with mild fruitiness beneath; flavor is quite savory with bitter cocoa, nuts (peanuts in particular), dark roasted grain, and a vaguely steak-with-mushrooms presence. Medium-bodied, and with lingering roasty, nutty notes on the tongue. A delicious, savory beer, fulfilling the "meal in a glass" notion with good balance.

355 ml can poured at home. Pours a brown color with a white head. very nutty and caramel smell. The taste is the same; very strong hazelnut feel. I really like the flavors in this beer. Delicious!

Can to 0.5L Heineken glass, beer pours a dark brown/red with a miserable off white top. The aroma carries sesame oil, smoke, soy sauce, burnt food and other oddities. Fortunately the taste is better with chocolate and almond notes, with a dirt aftertaste. Palate wise, this beer is...nothing special. Watery, co2 minimal, no real complexity and an ashtray aftertaste. Overall I wonder what happened...this beer is an oddity.

On tap at Bitter in Vancouver. A very dark bronze beer with a pale yellow head. Faintly sweet nose. As to flavour, sweet caramel, slightly nutty about sums it up. Nothing much to see here, folks. 2.6.

Has a poor nut brown flavour. Sweet on the nose, a little bitter on the intake, and flavour that is far from fully formed.

Pours a clear dark brown with a small amount of tan coloured head that sticks around for a couple minutes and then laces the glass fairly well. Aromas include, nuts, toffee/caramel, brown sugar, bread. Flavour is caramel, grainy, toast, light chocolate and sweet finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
