COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First Trax Brown Ale is a soft, well rounded, and brewed with all British specialty malts and hops. It’s a malty, balanced brew with hints of chocolate and nutty undertones.

A very good nutty brown ale. Was a great base beer for the pumpkin ale. Nicely balanced.

I was slightly disappointed by this brew. The pour is a brown/amber with a thin beige head. The nose is of caramel, bread, toffee, light nuttiness and minimal hops. The taste has a predominant caramel malt with a some sweetness and a light hop on the finish. This taste quite bland and boring to be honest.

Draught in Kimberley, BC. Clear mahogany colour, small head. Mildly roasty with some hazelnuts and coffee. Dryish with clean mouthfeel, light chocolate and mild bitterness. A well made brown akle with good drinkability.

Draft sample at the brewery. Pours medium brown, nice clarity, medium to thin, short-lived head, no real lacing to speak of but that’s likely the glassware. Nose is very spicy; cedar, leather, old books, some sweet/chocolatey malt aromas as well, very English aroma. Flavor is mild and spicy, nice and round and correct. I’d have this again if it was on tap in my local. Not bad.

Rich, woody aroma. Deep copper colour with a very small off-white head. Nutty and woody flavour with a creamy texture. Bitter finish. A nice beer.

Nice colour, rich red with the perfect amount of brown blend. Seemed a little highly carbonated upon the pour though, lots of fizz and medium head. Nose certainly has some nut appeal, and is accompanied by malt and cheese bread? Pretty flat in the mouth. A bit watery right away, distinct nuts again but not much past that. Expected a big splash of roasted malt and some choco...but its missing. Oh wait, cocao is coming through on the finish (as I write this!) My suspicion was correct, a touch highly carbonated.

355ml can. Pours medium brown colour, with a compact creamy beige head on top. Carmel aroma, sweet nose. Flavour is caramel with a touch of chocolate. Deeper dark chocolate note to the finish, light bitterness. Decent, not priced too badly either.

Poured out of a can for the review...Good clear deep brown brew with a small rocky tan cap. Aroma was dominated by sweet toasted malts but there could’ve been more malts - no question there. Faint chemicals too. There was a noticable burnt taste as well as some hops, but I’ve tasted this a hundred times before in average or just below average brews - now I’m not saying that this is a bad beer because it is not, it’s just nothing new. I could also taste a hint of coffee, the slightest sourness and an odd grassy flavour tied into the bitterness. Mouthfeel was fairly smooth, but the beer seemed thin. Some mild bitter aftertaste along with that sourness and some odd lingering spice. Excellent belch though!

Sample at Canadian Brewing Awards 2008. Ruby brown with a wispy tan head. Aroma of toasted grain, with a hint of well-sugared coffee. Medium bodied. Flavour is pleasant, roasty with a bit of cocoa and coffee, and some nuttiness as well. A bit light and plain, but not too bad.

I found this in a corner collecting dust at the liquor store today. I decided to buy it because I’ve been craving OK Spring Classic Nut Brown Ale lately, something they don’t make anymore. Anyways, I find it to be nutty in aroma, with fantastic deep brown colour. Full bodied and somewhat thick, which I love. Overall a very delicious beer.
