Brewed right in the Canadian Rockies, Project 9 is a true Bavarian Pilsner with exceptional continental hop flavour that can only be achieved by a selection of fine noble hops including the Saaz variety. The use of Munich, Pilsner and Pale western Canadian malts and time honoured brewing methods produces a clean, crisp Bavarian Pilsner that is truly transcendent.

On tap at the Bear Street Tavern Banff. Clean tasting yellow pils. Light malt , background hops, with some bread and grass notes. Ideal for a warm evening in a bar that needed a touch more air con!!

Draft at brewery. One of the best Fernie beers. Solid malt character and nice lingering bitterness. It’s very germanic and yum, nice to see in the lineup.

Pours a bit of head but it only lingers as a micro-head, very little head. Has a nice grassy flavour with some grains and sweetness. Low bitterness present, doesn’t linger in the back of the tongue. Close to the style but not quite, which is ok. I’d have it again, and I will.

355 ml can. Clear straw yellow, white lasting froth. Definite noble influence is evident in the aroma and taste, along with solid pils malts, light grass and grains, faint citrus. Average carbonation, light bodied, moderately hopped. Much tastier than most other offerings of it’s kind. Nice micro pils. LF (Lagerboy Friendly)

Light gold. Malt is bit thick, gloppy and the hops are maybe not as fresh as I’d like. Mild bitterness. Ok.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver

Hazy blond color with small compact head. Light grassy touch. Dry and light mouthfeel; the malt profile has some cereals accent; the hopping has a little grassy touch, ordinary bitterness level.
Too simple, just midway between a real Pilsner and a mainstream Lager.

A decent pilsener, definitely can tell it was craft brewed as there is some flavour. Well balanced, though I’d throw in more hops if it were me. Kind of an apple cider element to this as well. Sample at Flatlanders Beer Fest, Winnipeg.

Pours straw, light frothy head. Aroma of straw, grains. Taste is an unoffending, post grass cutting simple beer flavour. Drink on a hot day on a patio and you will feel refreshed and ask for another. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is a light malts and some earthy graininess. Almost non-existant hop contributions. Nothing too complex. Body is a clear light gold with a beige head that retains poorly.

Draft sample at the Calgary International Beerfest 2014. Medium gold with a creamy white head. Very striking nose-- loads of floral hops! Didn’t expect this! The palate is somewhat more muted, featuring predominantly clean grains, but the aromatics are still here, delicate and floral. A really great pils!
