Brewed right in the Canadian Rockies, Project 9 is a true Bavarian Pilsner with exceptional continental hop flavour that can only be achieved by a selection of fine noble hops including the Saaz variety. The use of Munich, Pilsner and Pale western Canadian malts and time honoured brewing methods produces a clean, crisp Bavarian Pilsner that is truly transcendent.

Draft at brewery. One of the best Fernie beers. Solid malt character and nice lingering bitterness. It’s very germanic and yum, nice to see in the lineup.

Aroma is slightly spicy and wheaty. Nice pale gold pour with a decent fizzy white head. Nice mildly spicy flavours with wheat and cereal grains.

Yellow. Bubbly. Thin soft white head. A bit of a fruity nose. Dominant malt note and noticeable hops. A quick drink but not a the crisp aggressive classic.

Pours a clear yellowish gold with a frothy white head. Aroma of sweet pil malts, light toast, nobel hops and faint fruity esthers. Taste is a clean sweet pil malt profile, pilsner yeast esthers, spicy noble hops with a crisp and dry finish. Well balanced pilsner a d another hit for this great brewery.

355 ml can from a Fernie Brewing 12-pack assortment, served in a shaker pint glass. Lovely golden hue supports a light golden head that leaves generous lace. Lively carbonation. Aroma of fresh, clean malt and citrusy hops; flavor is much the same, ending very cleanly and refreshingly. Light-bodied, as expected. This is a great example of a Canadian craft interpretation of a pilsner. Just fantastic.

On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours a clear pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of straw, cereal and grass. Flavour is fresh and clean, with notes of grass, straw and a little cereal. Very refreshing stuff, just not overly flavourful. Certainly better than the average rating suggest in my opinion.

Clear pale straw pour with white head. Pale malt malt aroma with a touch of sulfur. Touch of bitterness on the finish, but really plain and light.

On tap at the Bear Street Tavern Banff. Clean tasting yellow pils. Light malt , background hops, with some bread and grass notes. Ideal for a warm evening in a bar that needed a touch more air con!!

Pours a bit of head but it only lingers as a micro-head, very little head. Has a nice grassy flavour with some grains and sweetness. Low bitterness present, doesn’t linger in the back of the tongue. Close to the style but not quite, which is ok. I’d have it again, and I will.
