3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cherrywood-accented medium brown. Toasty aroma with chocolate, and no maple. Thick syrupy body, with light chocolate, and hints of toast and maple. OK porter, the maple is more a gimmick as it has largely fermented out, but it is probably better that way.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle purchased in Golden BC in October 2011. Pours black with an off white head that lasts the whole way. Aromas are very subtle. Some maple and some malt. Not much of a maple taste. Very relaxed. Some roasted notes and gentle malts. Creamy body, decent session beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
pours onyx black, decent thick 1cm head with sticky lacing all around, almost invisible CO2 streams. Minor malted coffee on the nose. Huge torrent of fruity coffee up front, followed by mellowed nutty roasted malts with only a very minor hint of maple syrup. The maple is kind of in the background during the whole experience, but not prominent enough to discern. Finishes mildly sour but overall crisp and clean. Coffee on the exhale. Medium complexity, medium depth, low-medium length, low-medium carry. Overall a good session beer but no WOW factor to keep me coming back for a 2nd.

Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, milk chocolate, light maple, light carmel and a hint of vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, maple, cocoa and light carmel with a smooth lingering maple finish.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The pour is a dark brown, nearly opaque, nice amber tones on the edges. A finger of creamy light tan head. No carbonation. Some massive lacing. The nose is robust and well roasted with a light maple sweetness. A chewy, thick roast, notes of burnt cocoa and some coffee. A hint of bittering hop. The taste is smooth and creamy with a nice maple sweetness. A big robust roast, biscuits, a good roasty cocoa with a subtle woody toast note. Sweet middle with a subtle maple note. Overall, a good session porter.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
650ml bottle pours dark brown in color with about 2 fingers of light tan head which leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is dark roasted malts and a hint of chocolate. Taste is roasted malty bitterness with a hint of chocolate and some underlying sweetness and a light amount of hops in the mix. This is a very lovely porter that is the best beer from the Fernie lineup and is highly recommended..

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark, dark brown, with a light brown head. Light aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, a bit of dust in the beginning, but that quickly disappears. Taste of coffee, chocolate, a slight sourness (some black malt perhaps?), medium sweet, medium to heavy bitter for the style (which I like).
Medium bodied, average carbonation, ends quite bitter and with a pleasant chocolate feeling in the mouth.
Overall a good beer. I’m a bit disappointed though with the lack of maple character, I could not specifically pick that out anywhere.
