On tap 4 oz. sample at the Fezziwig's Brewing Company tasting room in Carlsbad, CA. Opaque, near black with small khaki head and good lacing. Aroma of dark roasted malt, dark fruit, prunes, more dark fruit, toffee and vanilla. Taste of dark roasted malt, coffee, dark fruit, cherries, raisins, prunes, toffee, raspberry and vanilla. Almost black in color with a tan head. Nose has a nice licorice note to it as well as plenty of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. Some dark fruits in the background, too. Good chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and coffee flavors. Lots of licorice, dark fruit, and a hint of burnt sugar. A bit on the sweet side, but very enjoyable.
