Grima (1200) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - JUN 24, 2011
Dark brown color, which is almost opaque. The foam is creamy, but only medium-fine and quickly away again. The smell is malty, with chocolate and caramel. Starts sweet malty with strong body, also pleasant caramel-like and slightly chocolatey. The center part is caramelmalty, the sweetnes increases very much!. The finish is very malty, slightly caramel-like and sweet!

Test vom 17.3.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,11,12,11,11,11 - 10,85

0.5 l bottle. Reddish brown color. Sweet, nutty and toffeish with almonds. Sweet, toffeish, raisiny and nutty flavor. A bit too worty and sweet. For a bock I expect more alcohol complexity and deepness.

500 ml bottle, BB 24. March 2011, into tulip. Pours dark brown with garnet hue body overlain by rather short lived, completely dissipating beige head. The nose is malts with melanoidin toast-like overtones and faint alcohol. Malty flavor with toasty notes probably derived from usage of malts containing melanoidins, some caramel. The supportive hoppy bitterness is subdued to malty sweetness that lingers but never gets cloying. Somewhat nutty finish. Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation and quite hard water. Nothing memorable, though.

Bottled (from Bierzwerg.de). Very deep ruby red colour, small off-white head. Aroma is bready malts, some sweetish malts, raisins, mild alcohol as well as some mild toffee. Flavour is caramel malts, mild mildly smoked wood as well as some dark dry fruits and some alcohol. Mild grassy notes grow in the finish. Yet quite sweetish and strongly malty. Pleasant.

KAggie97 (3170) - Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA - AUG 22, 2009
Bottle. Pours a highly carbonated mahogany with a head of off-white. Aroma is malted molasses, with hints of nut and grain. Flavor is uber-sweet molasses malt with touches of Grape Nuts and barley. Nice mouthfeel. Pleasant, approachable beer.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin biege head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and so is the flavor, though added a note of alcohol. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Papsoe (21782) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 8, 2008
(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Clear orangey brown with a frothy, off-white head leaving some laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt and Danish Rye Bread. Medium body, roasted malt - almost a little burned - and again Danish Rye. Rather subdued bitterness. 050608
