3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 alexsdad06 (3103) - Ohio, USA - FEB 2, 2013Draft sample at Fifty West thanks to b3shine. Pours a solid clear brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma has roasted malt, some chocolate, a light nutty component and hints of sweet maple. The flavor is roasted malts, chocolate, maple, light nutty notes, a light herbal spicy character; pretty decent for a low abv brown.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (4528) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 5, 2013
Draft at the source, served in a sampler. Pours a deep brown with amber highlights and a small off-white head. Light in aroma, with notes of toast, earth, chocolate, and nuts, and only some light syrup sweetness. The flavor brings more of everything, just an amped up version of the same- toasty, nutty, chocolaty malts balanced by maple syrup sweetness. Loads of flavor for 4.2% ABV. Light-bodied, with a roasty, toasty, smooth mouthfeel and light carbonation. Great session brown ale.

Dark beer with ruby highlights when held against the light. Lasting sticky tan head. Caramel, maple and malt syrup nose. Burnt caramel flavor with bitter chocolate, burnt toast, maple syrup and an odd acetate sense to it. Long bitter chocolate finish.

Clear dark copper color. Half finger good khaki head. Leaves decent lace. Lighter body. Smooth, more dry texture, lighter carbonation. Toasty, lightly roast. Little bitterness, some sweet taste. Good amount of light hop noticeable. Good amount of maple syrup flavor, but nowhere near as sweet or viscous as that may sound. A solid brown. Great, flavorful session ale.

Draft at brewpub. Poured dark brown color with medium frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted nutty malt and maple syrup aroma. Medium to full body with smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor and a medium sweet nutty finish of moderate duration. Very good session brew.

Draft to pint at Fifty West. Looks good; dark brown with foamy light beige head. Smells and tastes of maple, malt, and toastiness. Decent on the palate too. A solid example of the style, and a good amount of flavor for the abv.
