On nitro tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a thick dark tan head. Aroma of coffee beans, chocolate, sweet roasted malt. Flavor of coffee up front, with roasted nuts, roasted malt, and chocolate in the finish. Lots of coffee here- a well done coffee porter. 8/4/8/4/14 (3.8/5)

Draft at the source, served in a sampler. Pours a deep, opaque brown, with a small, creamy tan head. The aroma is a big blast of fresh roasted coffee, roasty throughout, with some nuts and burnt sugar. The flavor follows the same lines; mostly just rich, roasty, fresh coffee. Medium-bodied, with a dry, smooth mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Excellent coffee stout. My favorite Fifty West beer to date.

Tap. Poured black color with an average to large frothy brown head that was mostly lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roast mat and dark coffee aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium roasted bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good beer.

Draft at Dutchs. Pours a dark brown color with a medium plus sized khaki colored head. The aroma was strong black coffee, roast and a splash of bakers chocolate. The flavor had black coffee that was on the thin side, some roast and a hint of earthy bitterness. Soft finish. Seemed a touch soft on carbonation which would have helped the finish.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2012 On tap. Black color, minimal light brown head. Great coffee nose. Lighter body, softer carbonation, on the lighter side, more dry texture. Nice light bitter taste. Good roasty coffee flavor. Really tasty. Maybe could use a bit more of a chewy texture, but on the flip side, the light body makes it very easy to drink. I went through my portion quick

Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks good; pitch black with sticky beige lacing. Smells solid; coffee and malt. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Solid.
