Sample on tap. Clear dark brown / red color. Thin off-white head, that fades a bit. Medium body. Caramel malt, spice, light earthy hop flavors, hint of chocolate. Light bitter taste, spicy aftertaste. Kind of scotchy. Nice scotch ale. More bitter than sweet for me, and a nice amount of hop. I dig that.

Draft at the brewpub, served in a sampler. Pours a clear red-amber with no head. Aroma of toasted caramel, brown sugar, earth, and woody notes. Flavor of caramel, peat, fruits, toffee, and booze. Light-medium bodied, with low carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Just a little bit on the flat side carbonation-wise; with a little more of that it would probably pop a little more and work better. As it stands, still not a bad Scotch ale.

Draft. Poured a hazy dark brown color with a moderate frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted malt and caramel aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.

Draft to taster at Fifty West. Looks solid; a semi-transparent with razor-thin off-white lacing and cry little carbonation. Smells and ttes of scotch, malt, and caramel. Average on the palate. Could be car bed a bit more, but solid nonetheless.
