Bottle, thanks Ken. Black beer with nice tan head. Nose is not strong; dark sugar and mocha, New Orleans pralines. Tastes big, rummy, moderate bitterness suggests dark chocolate, sweet and hot like blended whiskey. Cloys a bit but not unpleasant. Lasting, dark-roasted aftertaste.

Pours deep brown with a dark tan head. Nose is vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt and light coconut. Same in the luscious flavor. The only drawback is the slightly thin mouthfeel.

Valley Brew Steve provided this bottle, #275 of ? given to him by Todd at 50/50. Beautiful deep brown pour with no head. The nose is coffee, chocolate and oak. The flavor is a seemless blend of the aroma influences, along with the most delicate touch of bourbon. Extremely well done. RE-RATE- After having about 20-25 ounces of this stuff yesterday at the Sac Brewfest, I was reassured that this is one incredible beer, and upped my rating a point. Very Well Done Todd, and great to meet you yesterday!

Draft 2007 vintage at the Bistro’s BA Fest; Nose of chocolate, oak, and vanilla with a light coffee note; very dark clear brown with a small tan head; flavor is peppery, chocolate, oak, and bourbon.

I found this gem while out west and was very impressed with it and to find out Todd (Flossmoor stations old brewer) brewed this i was not surprised by how good it was with hints of dark chocolate and a nice coffee and caramel nose and a nice roasted malty taste.CHEERS!

Bottle: You can feel this beer in your chest when you smell it. Aroma is alcohol, raisin, acetone. Roastiness in there somewhere. Flavor is sweet, smooth chocolate malts, with a very heavy roastiness. Bitter. A bit hot. Where is the bourbon?

Bottle. Pours inky black with a yellow/tan colored head. Aroma is chocolate, roast, caramel, alcohol. Flavor is again chocolate, coffee, caramel, toast, alcohol. Palate is massive, mild carbonation, finished warming and bitter. Silky smooth mouth feel, a little on the hot side. Very good.

Bottle. Bless the person who brought this back on a recent trip up to Truckee and brought this back. What a stunningly tasty impy stout. It’s always nice to find a gem like this, especially when there’s no hype involved, no "Day" attached to it, no gimmicks. Just a fantastic beer. The beer pours out a blacker than black color, viscuous and a 1-finger thick tan head. The head stayed thruought the entire time drinking, and had a nice creamy feeling. The aroma was bursting with coffee, malted chocolate (dark chocolate Whoppers anyone?), brown sugar, tobacco and vanilla. Amazing. The creamy-smooth mouthfeel was just a pleasure. The flavor had just the perfect blending of everything I love in my stouts. Deep, rich chocolate, roasted coffee beans, bourbon, vanilla, molasses...again...amazing. Everything was so well put together. Nothing really stood out. Reminded me of the perfect rock band...everything playing as one, harmonizing and creating something intense and wonderful.

WOW, I have not been this impressed with an Impy for quite some time. Dark chocolate, toasted oak, coffee and caramel nose. Clean and decadently rich on the palate with an almost delicate mouthfeel. Very complex and rounded with flavors that compliment each other from beginning to ever so wonderful lingering end. Todd may be Flossmoor’s loss but he is definitely our gain.

Deep tan to reddish-cream-brown head over deep brown beer with orange reflections. Very vinous, Bourbon nose, rich, Sachertorte, points of coffee and cacaopowder, leather. Very complex and fruity. Dry, alcoholic Bourbon or rum flavour; rather sharp. Again dark fruit, covered in black chocolate. Very faraway cake sweetness or molasses; both burnt and hoppy. Very full-bodied, sharply alcoholic, slightly burning, viscuous. Quite good Imperial Stout, from Todd’s fledgling brewery.
